1 The Future is Now Company Profile The high seas account for around 70% of the earth s surface and the shipping of nearly 90% of all volume goods and produce, underlining the importance of the oceans for global commerce and trade. Advanced technologies are needed to ensure that ships can be operated safely and economically. All areas of ship technology are characterised by demand for equipment offering increased availability and reliability. Which means that shipborne electrical and electronic s will remain a key focus for continued state-of-the-art development and innovation. Technical advances are crucial for the competitiveness of the world shipping industry. We do not settle for adjusting our s to future development we create them. 3 Power under Control Shaft alternators offer an economic and environmentally-friendly solution for electrical power aboard ships. Proven advantages have led to them becoming part of standard equipment. With more than 380 s already supplied, we are the market leader in this field. Demand for electrical power aboard container vessels has risen significantly as a result of the increased capacity of refrigerated containers. Based on a new generation of high voltage shaft alternators, our range of s has been extended to meet these growing requirements. Our combined shaft alternator / shaft motor s supply electrical power during normal seagoing operation or can be operated as a booster or redundant take-home propulsion. Electrical propulsion s provide numerous advantages. They are particularly economic, environmentally-friendly and reliable. They are also simple to operate and control while facilitating good positioning properties as well as low noise and vibration levels. Moreover, their reduced size or volume enables the best possible utilisation of space. Increasing numbers of electrical propulsion s are also supplied for ships with special requirements. We already meet this growing demand, having so far equipped more than 80 vessels. Due to the growing demand for more available power, medium voltage instead of low voltage distribution s are provided. We are also a leading company in this field and have equipped more than 100 ships from cruise vessels and ferries to dredgers and container vessels with medium voltage switchboards for many decades. On-Shore Power Supply (OPS) is the result of a groundbreaking effort to reduce emission from ships at port. For the OPS program we have developed a modular shore connection. SAMCon is designed for installations onboard of large and small container vessels with 6,6kV or 440V main switchboard. More and more ports are planning to adapt this environmentally friendly ship-to shore power supply. In October 2008 we finished the installation on 50Hz/60Hz frequency converter power supply. Since 2003 we have already delivered more than 30 s. The Primary Power Bus (PPB), a special concept of electrical power distribution for ships, is designed to replace conventional cable networks with switchboards and distribution panels by individual switchgears arranged on decentralised busbar s. Safety and security s are more important these days than ever before. A ship itself and its load has to be controlled and protected. Entertainment and internal communication solutions enhance the comfort as well as safety levels on board. Our product range meeting all these requirements can be delivered as a fully integrated which has been proven in many projects. For all types of naval vessels our stateof-the-art Degaussing Systems provide a significant contribution for magnetic protection against the hazard from magnetic sea mines. More than 220 s have been contracted for the German Navy and for various Navies abroad. We are providing multi-influence ranging s for acquisition of underwater signatures of naval vessels including but not limited to magnetic-, acoustic- and pressure-signatures for mobile and stationary employment. Sophisticated software for modelling and analysis of the ranging results forms an intergral part of our supplies. 4 Maximum User-Friendliness via a Single Automation Platform With a strong partnership SAM Electronics and Lyngsø Marine are among the world s major suppliers of marine automtion equipment with a long tradition in ship automation starting form the very beginning of ship-based computer technology in the 1950 s. The long-time experience and a comprehensive know how in Marine Automation Systems enabled the development of the 2200 Automation series as one platform for maximum user-friendliness and cost efficiency. With a few, highly flexible hard- and software modules the 2200 series provides solutions for all automation requirements onboard. The common platform and the advanced integrated self diagnostics provide all information for easy operation and maintenance of the. An unified user interface on all devices and fast access to information anywhere on the ship are advantages for the user. Class approved modules with a common operation and service philosophy, allow simple and intuitive operation even in critical situations for the safety of ship and crew. A redundant net ensures immediate access to all data via each PC workstations or operation panels. Being more than just a supplier we offer a wide range of expertise and services like technical advice for ship design and delivery of standard or tailor-made automation solutions. A worldwide service during vessel operation and retrofits of existing installations to meet new requirements ensure our support through the whole lifecycle of the ship for ship owners, yards and engine manufactures. The 2200 Automation series can be extended easily from a simple alarm and monitoring to an integrated machinery alarm and control and further functionality as propulsion control, power management or emergency control using a common platform. The Monitoring and Control System MCS 2200 offers control of all main engine machinery, power management, cargo control for tankers, as well as integration of reefer container monitoring, loading computer software, CCTV, etc. Interfaces to all kind of external s provide a highly flexible. The Propulsion Control System PCS 2200 supports the whole range of possible propulsion configurations, covering single and multiple engine configurations, fixed and controllable pitch propellers as well as control of clutch, integration of shaft generators and motors. Integrated and standalone power management s for operation of generators and other facilities in electrical power net configurations are available. The fire detection FDS 8300 based on addressable fire detectors and a module structure is suitable for all kind of vessels from tug to cruise liner. 5 Bridge Systems leading the Way Our navigation and communication product range comprises a wide spread portfolio of s applicable to all types and sizes of vessels. This ranges from highly sophisticated and proven installations through to standardised s and individual products for retrofit applications. The established NACOS series of integrated navigation and command s has set international standards since Our market share represents 20% of worldwide INS installations for commercial vessels, 70% thereof for ferries and cruiseliners making a total in excess of 1,200 vessels. Our NACOS-5 series combines proven functions such as integrated track control and centralised data presentation with state-of-the-art collision avoidance and traffic monitoring features. Advanced sub-assembly navaids include an Automatic Identification System (AIS) as well as the first type-approved combined display of radar and electronic chart data: The CHARTRADAR To meet the IMO requirements for onboard installation of Voyage Data Recorders and Automatic Identification Systems, we offer both the sophisticated VDR DEBEG 4300 and the retrofit capable S-VDR SAM 4330, enabling recording of key nautical, technical and safety-related data. Similarly our AIS is a unique designed to support watch officers by providing detailed target and traffic information. For use in either stand-alone mode or as part of integrated bridge s, the fully autonomous transmits ship s own data such as position, course, speed and identification while receiving the same from other AIS units within VHF range. With our latest generation of Ship Control Centers (SCC s) we provide a total bridge concept characterised by a high level of integration with particular emphasis on interlinking data from navigation, communication and ship operation functions. Nearly 240 SCC s have already been installed worldwide. Introduction of GMDSS necessitates rapid and efficient aid to ships in distress, for which our range of DEBEG products provide all means of communication. The safety of ship operation requires proven internal communication s. These requirements are met by our complementary DEBEG scope including telephone and paging s, general and fire alarm s as well as those for onboard monitoring and safety.
