THE WÄRTSILÄ 3C CONTROL & COMMUNICATION CENTRE

At Wärtsilä, we are passionate about optimising lifecycle value by offering precisely what each of our customers need. We can deliver on this promise because we provide the most complete offering of marine products, integrated solutions and services in the industry worldwide. We help our customers find the shorter route to robust growth and bigger profits through operational efficiency, environmental excellence, fuel flexibility and services. Even though this brochure is just an introduction to why Wärtsilä nowadays powers one in every three ships worldwide, it still demonstrates how we are able to customise our comprehensive offering in order to give customers a crucial competitive edge. What can we do for you? WÄRTSILÄ 3C CONTROL & COMMUNICATION CENTRE Wärtsilä 3C is an intelligent integration platform for all vital on-board systems. The 3C can be adapted to all types of vessels ranging from the offshore market, container and tanker trade to ferries and cruise liners. The Wärtsilä Control & Communication Centre 3C represents the very latest in fully integrated vessel control systems. It will be a vital link between the bridge and the ship s automation, engines and propulsion control systems, and combines the selection of individual navigation components in one seamless system. The 3C consists of multifunction displays covering full workstations with radar, ECDIS and conning, various sensors for target detection, heading, position and further navigation data with standardised user interfaces. The 3C is based on know-how and components that are well known for their outstanding precision and reliable design. The control centre fulfils basic IMO requirements, as well as the highest class notations for one-man bridges. The use of standard hardware and software allows the configuration of modular system solutions, from the tanker or containership through the offshore supply ship and the mega yacht to the cruise ship. 2

FEATURES The multifunction displays (widescreen TFT) present: z Radar, including ARPA-Collision avoidance z Chartradar z ECDIS with automated route planning, weather chart, and online NAVTEX information z ECOmeter (power management tool and advisory system for optimum engine configurations to achieve reduced fuel consumption and emissions z Sensor health performance monitoring z Fast and easy access to navigation and automation data from any multifunction display z Centralised dimming system z Centralised alarm system z Single action takeover z Advanced route planning including weather, safety and ship performance criteria z Speed pilot (integration with PCS for programmed and planned speed profiles) z Advanced predictor (for improved precision manoeuvres) z Optimiser (fleet management, vessel performance monitoring and data collection for later analysis and feedback) z Common user interface with multiple options for further integration, such as cargo monitoring WÄRTSILÄ CONTROL AND COMMUNICATION CENTRE Wärtsilä Integrated Automation System Power Management Propulsion Control Ecometer Speed Pilot 3C GATEWAY SERVER Optimisers Dynamic Weather Router Voyage Monitoring/Reporting Track Control Integrated Navigation System * WÄRTSILÄ 3C AND OPTIMISERS Vessel operators are facing constant challenges to comply with current and future regulatory requirements related to safety, the environment and operational efficiency. The Wärtsilä Control and Communication Centre (3C), together with the Wärtsilä Services Optimisers Platform will create limitless possibilities to provide an ultimate decision support onboard and ashore. After set-up onboard, the Optimisers Site Core is configured to send automated or manually generated reports with predefined collection of operational data to the ashore office and Wärtsilä portal. Any type of owner specified KPI data may be analysed ashore to give feedback onboard for enhanced operations. Voyage planning onboard, and even fleetwide, becomes easier than ever by online monitoring of local and predicted weather conditions and routing of the entire fleet simultaneously. Advisories are generated automatically or manually and a new route is proposed to avoid problem areas by utilising the DEO (Dynamic Environmental Optimiser) to reach the destination safely and on time with reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The Wärtsilä Control and Communication Centre provides the operator with an ultimate tool for decision support to improve safety and efficiency with reduced operating costs and environmental impact. 3

INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY FOR SAFE AND SIMPLE OPERATION MULTIFUNCTION WORKSTATIONS The 3C workstations use a standardised Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and provide central as well as individual change of colour palettes and dimming for all nautical functions. Widescreen TFT monitors increase space for the presentation of radar video, charts and menus, allowing for a clear arrangement of all control functions and status indications. The system also offers helpful functions for the planning and monitoring of routes. It includes automatic route planning, weather overlay, autopilot remote control with curved heading line display, AIS operation, NAVTEX data integration and online updating service. Optional applications such as CCTV and DP systems from various partners can be controlled from the workstations and share data with the entire system. The redundancy of equipment leads to additional safety, and standardised hardware ensures effi cient spare parts logistics. 4 FUEL SAVING CAPABILITIES Wärtsilä 3C is designed for advanced decision support by using the latest Wärtsilä innovations such as DEO, ECOmeter and optimiser. Vessel performance is constantly monitored and recorded for voyage data reports that can be analysed ashore. ECOmeter provides decision support for optimum engine confi guration based on the desired route profi le. Overall performance is verifi ed with the prevailing and predicted weather and user preset values. When any of the pre-set values like ETA are changing, the system will propose actions such as a new route or new engine confi guration. The new route or any other action is calculated by the system but approved or dismissed by the user.

ECDIS-Radar overlay Radar Power management Propulsion NETWORK ARCHITECTURE All necessary data for the core navigation system is provided by a complete suite of high performance, reliable sensors. A double Ethernet Bus distributes the data of (chart) radar, ECDIS, conning, automation and sensors to the navigation workstations, where all information is stored independently in order to maintain the highest fl exibility in the bridge system layout. New workstations receive their confi guration and all data from the network automatically. Both automation and navigation systems run independently in their own network, but are integrated through a security gateway. The 3C improves the operation of the ship through intelligent and modular integration of all data from sensors and selected ship systems. It allows for full scalability, future expandability, and quick repair and maintenance during operation. NAVIGATION SYSTEM 3C is equipped with Raytheon Anschutz Synapsis integrated navigation system. Raytheon Synapsis complies with the new IMO performance standard requirements for an INS (Integrated Navigation System). The new standardised, ultra-compact PC with solid-state disk and passive cooling instead of a fan was designed to increase reliability. Featuring a compact design, as well as powerful processing capabilities, the new PCs are ready for universal use on various ship types. ADVANCED DATA MANAGEMENT The Consistent Common Reference System (CCRS) ensures highest reliability in operation: Collective sensor health monitoring Validity, plausibility, integrity check and marking System wide sensor and source selection by quality indicator (sensor health indication) INTELLIGENT ALERT MANAGEMENT The intelligent alert management directs attention to the essential alarms: Classifi cation of alerts with regard to system status Reduction of occurring alerts Stress reduction due to less beeping and fl ashing Central handling and presentation of alerts STANDARDISED OPERATION All controls and indication units of the gyro compass and autopilot, the steering inserts and the operation panels for radar and ECDIS use the same colours, the same fonts and soft keys to simplify operation. TRACK CONTROL WITH ECDIS AND AUTOPILOTS The combination of autopilot and ECDIS is approved for Track Control category B/C to offer the highest precision in automatic steering. 5
