At a glance 1 2 Made by ARBURG Made in Germany: the mark of quality and performance. Plug and work: rapid production readiness through complete solutions. The greatest advantage of our complete ALLROUNDER and robotic system solution is perfectly co-ordinated and fully integrated technology. A production unit of this type not only allows you to produce moulded parts trouble-free, but also to load inserts and remove finished articles, separate sprues, carefully move and set down parts without quality impairment as required, for example, by downstream processing or packaging processes. As one of the world s largest injection moulding machine manufacturers, ARBURG not only builds production units of this type, but also commissions them and provides comprehensive support precisely when you require these services. 1 Made by ARBURG Made in Germany The same applies to the robotic technology as to the ALLROUNDER injection moulding technology known to our customers: Made by ARBURG Made in Germany stands for modern robotic systems promising ARBURG s customary quality and performance. The robust and low-maintenance technology provides for a long service life and maximum availability. All the ARBURG robotic systems are cost-efficient thanks to their low set-up requirements and short intervention times. Add to this a world-wide service by trained specialist personnel, who are available everywhere at short notice. 2 Plug and work At ARBURG, injection moulding machines and robotic systems form a complete production unit, which, together with the machine guarding, is CE-certified. The result of such an integrated approach is a system which is rapidly production-ready in a space-optimised design, for example without guarding on the rear of the machine. Fully functional and problem-free from the very first day. The advantages are unrivalled: a single point of contact from design to delivery. As a main contractor, ARBURG guarantees perfectly co-ordinated mechanical and electric interfaces and ensures optimum safety features /2016

3 4 5 Integration capability: common control system for ALLROUNDER and robotic system. Flexibility: individually adapted to every handling task. Energy efficiency: servo motor energy recovery during braking. 3 Integration capability ALLROUNDER machines and robotic systems are jointly operated via our central SELOGICA machine control system. This has the following advantages: single operating system with graphic sequence programming and low training requirements one control system, one set of adjustments, one data record no adaptation required short set-up times thanks to intuitive teach-in functions significantly higher functionality compared to EUROMAP connection unrestricted synchronisation of robot and machine movements Only in this way can complete integration be successfully combined with maximum operating convenience. 4 Flexibility ARBURG robotic technology can be selected and precisely adapted to the relevant handling task. This is guaranteed by the wide product range and the fact that axes, axis lengths and axis drives can be combined as required. Numerous gripper connection options are also available, making possible every individual insertion and removal task. Only in this way can reliable, fast and/or particularly gentle parts handling be achieved. 5 Energy efficiency The high efficiency of the servo-electric drives for the movement axes (main axes) and servo-motor energy recovery during braking ensure energy-efficient operation of the robotic systems. Further beneficial factors for low-energy consumption include: consistent lightweight design individual configuration options for the axes freely-programmable simultaneous movements 01/

1 Flexible robotics The broad product range of robotic systems that can enter the mould horizontally and vertically ensures that the right solution can be found for every application. Numerous possible combinations of axes, axis lengths and axis drives guarantee a high degree of flexibility. The movement axes (main axes) of the robotic system are servo-electrically driven and can be moved simultaneously, rapidly and with a high degree of repeat accuracy. This enables moulded parts to be removed and set down quickly and reliably. Inserts are picked up and positioned in the mould precisely and conveniently. Internal absolute position measurement ensures that positions are reliably determined and dispenses with the need to travel to reference positions. Since the servo-electric axes do not have to be recalibrated after a production changeover, there are fewer sources of error and shorter downtimes. 2 The SELOGICA control system The intuitive graphic user interface of the SELOGICA machine control system has been proven thousandfold: a common technical management system for injection moulding machine and robotic system. Ready for operation immediately. Nothing needs to be programmed; harmonisation of the injection moulding machine and robotic system can be completely dispensed with. There is no simpler, more central way to achieve demanding control tasks. The SELOGICA control system 2 5

Efficient: INTEGRALPICKER V Dynamic: accelerated entry axis at up to 20 m/s². 1 Reliable sprue removal The INTEGRALPICKER V allows low-cost entry into the world of automated removal. It enters the mould vertically and impresses thanks to its high-performance drive technology with three servo-electric movement axes. Set-up work is minimal in the case of order changes. This ensures operatorfriendly working with few sources of error. 2 Short access times Further important features of the INTEGRALPICKER V include freely-programmable machine movements, as well as high dynamics, repeat accuracy and energy efficiency. Any number of axis positions, for example intermediate stops, can be programmed. Simultaneous, stroke-dependent movements are possible both in terms of the robotic system and between the robotic and machine sequences. The entry axis, Simple, fast, reliable: these are the characteristics of our efficient picker solution. It is ideal for sprue removal, for example. Thanks to numerous options, the vertical INTEGRALPICKER V pickers are optimally adaptable to any removal task in your plant. They feature a compact, space-saving design, permitting unhindered installation of the mould from above. Pick-up times remain effectively short. Reliable sprue removal Short access times 6

for example, can be started while the mould is opening and the removal and ejection movements can be synchronised. Cycle times are reduced significantly as a result. 3 Sophisticated overall concept The combination of injection moulding machine and robotic system forms a compact, CE-certified production unit. The ejection chute, for example, is integrated directly in the guard. SELOGICA controls everything centrally. Simple teach-in of the axis movements keep set-up times conveniently short. Numerous options, such as different gripper jaws, are also available. 3 Sophisticated overall concept 1 2 7

High performance: the horizontal MULTILIFT H 1 Low overall height Ideal for low-ceiling factories: horizontal entry into the mould from the rear of the machine provides free space above the clamping unit for mould installation. The MULTILIFT H is ideally suited to clean room applications, vertical injection into the parting line as in multi-component injection moulding and for mounting vertically operating peripherals on the clamping unit. Flexible use: ideal for multi-component applications. Designed for simple, gentle part removal and set-down: our MULTILIFT H excels by means of short action times and high process reliability in comparison with free-fall demoulding. Your production process runs failure-free and high availability of the entire system is ensured. The rapid movements of the MULTILIFT H are further enhanced by their seamless integration in a modern control system. Various versions and equipment packages enable problem-free and precise configuration to individual handling tasks. 1 Low overall height Wide range of options 3 8

2 Rapid, reliable part removal Fast movements thanks to minimal moving masses, short action times and low energy requirement are features achieved by the basic equipment version with just one servo-electric axis of motion and one pneumatic gripper axis. The pick-up and setdown position can be freely programmed. The result is gentle part removal and an interruption-free production sequence. 3 Wide range of options An additional pneumatic axis for swivelling the gripper by 90 outside the machine reduces the footprint. For particularly gentle removal of finished parts simultaneously with ejector, the MULTILIFT H can also be equipped with an additional servo-electric movement axis. An additional pneumatic gripper axis increases flexibility of the part handling system during demoulding and set-down. Modular expansion: pneumatic gripper axis for demoulding and set-down stroke. Rapid, reliable part removal 2 9

Compact: the vertical MULTILIFT SELECT Space-saving: complete, CE-certified production unit. 1 Pre-configured robotic technology At ARBURG, the classic robotic system with vertical entry into the mould is called the MULTILIFT SELECT. This is also suitable for trouble-free retrofitting. This technology is pre-configured according to the machine size and the axis lengths are appropriately coordinated and compact. Particularly in the case of this robotic system, these and other consistent standardisation assemblies result in an extremely attractive price/performance ratio. 2 Flexible part set-down The MULTILIFT SELECT features high-quality basic equipment for precise part handling. Three servo-electric movement axes and one pneumatic gripper axis permit freely programmable pick-up and set-down patterns. Gripper changing is fast and convenient thanks to standardised adapter platens with rapid-release couplings and compact connectors. Ideal for complex handling tasks with pick-up and set-down patterns: with its sophisticated technology and low purchase price, our MULTILIFT SELECT offers a particularly economical combination. Optimal, consistently standardised robotic technology: adapted and pre-configured to suit every machine size, at an extremely attractive price/performance ratio. Compact axis lengths reduce your space requirements to a minimum. The addition of a conveyor belt and safety enclosure transforms the ALLROUNDER and robotic system into a complete, CE-certified production unit. Pre-configured robotic technology Flexible part set-down 10

3 Practice-oriented options An additional gripper axis for separate sprue removal or setting down the finished parts in various rotational positions increases the flexibility of the part handling system. The MULTILIFT SELECT can be further upgraded by a conveyor belt and safety enclosure together with the appropriate machine to form a complete CE certified production unit. Special design: simultaneous moulded part and sprue removal. Practice-oriented options

Versatile: the vertical MULTILIFT V 1 Large working area The MULTILIFT SELECT provides the technical basis for the MULTILIFT V. Here, vertical entry into the mould can be adapted individually by means of generously proportioned, variable axis lengths. The result is a large, rectangular operating zone, which enables peripheral devices to be easily positioned and incorporated. The MULTILIFT V is therefore ideal for complex applications. 2 Flexible part set-down The basic equipment for precise part handling is of the customary ARBURG high quality: it comprises three servo-electric movement axes and a pneumatic gripper axis. Pick-up and set-down patterns can be freely programmed. The offering is rounded off by extensive gripper connection options and numerous mould and gripper technology solutions. Wide range of applications: designed for use with a vertical injection unit. A generous working area makes it ideal for integration in complex production cells: our MULTILIFT V is an impressively versatile robotic system. It is based on the MULTILIFT SELECT and features a variety of designs and handling weights. Both inserts and moulded parts can be moved easily and with maximum precision. Made-to-measure options allow precise adaptation to all your handling tasks. Large working area Made-to-measure options

3 Different designs The standard transverse design above the fixed mould mounting platen excels with its short travel distances and cycle times, as as well as a generously proportioned operating zone. The transverse design above the moving mounting platen and the longitudinal installation offer vertical injection into the parting line, as required for multi-component injection moulding. As the space above the clamping unit can also be utilised in the longitudinal installation, the footprint remains compact. Furthermore, this alternative permits optimum access to the mould from all sides. 4 Made-to-measure options The equipment can be expanded in a modular fashion. The dynamic vertical axis enables even shorter mould-entry times. The vertical axis in telescopic version permits a lower overall height. An additional gripper axis can set down finished parts in different rotational positions. All these options produce perfect conditions for high performance, practice-oriented operation. 14 Flexible: six-axis robotic system with SELOGICA us 1 Photo: KUKA Roboter GmbH Effective: SELOGICA user interface for Kuka control system. Single programming system ARBURG offers the SELOGICA-oriented programming solution for six-axis robotic systems as a plug-and-work package. Consequently, the key benefits of the typical ARBURG sequence programming via graphic symbols are also available for robotic systems. Installation technicians can program the good and bad part setdown or set-down patterns in the familiar SELOGICA operating environment. A significantly higher degree of functionality is demonstrated: for example when moving to home position when separating random samples, good and reject parts when creating individual processes for the first or last cycle The complete production unit requires only one data record. Perfectly suited for complex handling tasks: six axis robotic systems are characterised by a high degree of flexibility, a compact design and a small footprint. In the past, however, programming was extremely laborious and required special expertise. With the implementation of our SELOGICA user interface in the control system of Kuka robotic systems, we have broken completely new ground. With this intuitive programming system, you can now configure even complex movement sequences independently. You become independent of service providers and your training and set-up requirements are reduced. Extended communication between the SELOGICA and the robotic system ensures shorter cycle times and greater availability. In short: the use of a six-axis robotic system is rendered more efficient, making it attractive for your company. Standardised programming system 1 14

er interface 2 Central operation The robotic sequences are programmed using a separate manual operating unit. All other actions, such as changing operating modes, stopping and starting production or acknowledging alarms can be conveniently managed from the SELOGICA control panel. Restarting following an interruption for example, poses no problem. 3 Advanced parts handling The six-axis robotic system enables exceptionally flexible parts handling, enabling, for example, problem-free contour finishing of moulded parts. As a plug-and-work package solution, it also permits easy retrofitting. The compact design is suitable for low-ceiling factories, interlinked machines and clean rooms. 16 Freely programmable: the SELOGICA control system User-friendly: simultaneous monitoring of robot and machine sequence. 1 Interactive teach-in The necessary robotic system movements only need to be executed and confirmed in succession. All the parameter entries, as well as creation of the robotic sequence and its integration into the machine sequence are undertaken by the SELOGICA control system. Configuration of the basic position sequence and the working areas can also be performed conveniently via the human/ machine dialogue. 2 Flexible AMS The mobile ARBURG Mobile SELOGICA (AMS) control panel has been specially developed for ALLROUNDERs with robotic systems. Its user interface and functionality are identical to that of the SELOGICA control system, enabling the complete production unit to be operated via the AMS. Operation via hardware keys ensures a high level of operational reliability. AMS can be used for several robotic systems. Maintaining control over sophisticated machine, mould and robotic technology is the domain of SELOGICA. With this universal setting and monitoring system, you can quickly set up both simple and complex injection moulding processes, operate them intuitively and perform reliable optimisation. In other words: central management. All technical features of SELOGICA are designed to make the overall injection moulding process quick, safe and convenient. Consequently, the robotic systems are fully integrated. In other words, one control system, one operating philosophy, one data record. You benefit from decisive competitive advantages: low training requirements, short set-up times, maximum flexibility for your application and high productivity. 17 Highlights 3 Individual process control Robot and machine movements can be synchronised to perfection as the robotic system is treated as an additional machine axis. All robotic sequences can thus be set up simply, quickly and conveniently in the customary manner. All processes can be programmed independently of the machine or mould movements. The ideal removal solution can be freely configured according to the application and cycle time reductions are achieved through simultaneous and strokedependent movements. The X-axis, for example, can be moved simultaneously with the ejector or the Y-axis started during mould opening. 18 Application examples 1 2 Customised: tailored automated production solutions from a single source. Synchronised: mould and removal movements. The high flexibility of our combination of ALLROUNDERs and robotic systems covers all your individual applications to perfection. Our universal handling technology shortens amortisation periods for investments ensuring costefficient operation in the short term for you. As a main contractor, we also manage complete turnkey projects, from planning through implementation to commissioning and service. In other words, the ARBURG specialists take care of the entire engineering process and combine stringent project management with full system integration. 1 Turnkey projects The combination of ALLROUNDERs and robotic systems forms the basis for complete production cells, which are developed by the ARBURG project department together with the customer. Complemented with the relevant peripherals, all upstream and downstream production steps in the injection moulding process are automated. Alternatives are always conceivable owing to the modular product range. The comprehensive ARBURG know-how, including application and machine technology, is available in the search for the best possible solution. The service range available from ARBURG extends from support during the moulded part and mould design process, through to complete configuration, assembly and commissioning of the individual components and installation at the owner s premises, including all the necessary services. 2 Gentle part removal In contrast to free-fall demoulding, ARBURG robotic systems promise reliable, gentle and fast removal of different moulded parts. Robot and machine movements can be synchronised: the MULTILIFT can enter the mould as it is opening, for example, which effectively shortens cycle times. Alternatively, the robotic system and ejector can move synchronously to achieve especially gentle removal or enable more complex demoulding processes /2016

3 4 5 High degree of operating convenience: various random sampling functions. Flexible: free programming of different pick-up and set-down patterns. Practical: perfectly harmonised robotic technology and insertion tasks. 3 Reliable separation With the ARBURG robotic systems, the separation of sprues, random samples and rejects is also possible and entails no interruptions to production. A special random sampling function in the SELOGICA machine control system enables separation according to time, number of units, or at the push of a button. All this can also be synchronised with the job counter for good parts. 4 Flexible palletising The free programming of a variety of pickup and set-down patterns can also be achieved with ease, for example with the vertical MULTILIFT robotic systems. Setdown may be carried out with or without intermediate layers. Programming is accomplished easily and reliably using the SELOGICA machine control system, efficiently reducing set-up times. 5 Precise insertion Thanks to the broad range of robotic systems that ARBURG can offer its customers, modular and individually adaptable handling solutions can always be achieved in combination with ALLROUNDER injection moulding technology. The advantage: customers are only supplied with precisely the robotic technology that they actually require for their particular handling tasks.
