Ambitious Hinterland strategy Efficiency INSTREAM What? innovative project to raise the efficiency of inland navigation & promote the use of this mode In close cooperation with the different stakeholders Consolidation Planning & coordination Digitisation Resources Mid 2017 up to now July 2017: A declaration of intent signed by different representatives e.g. shippers, shipping lines, terminals, barge operators October 2017: 4 working groups in action 17 april 2018: handshake action plan inland navigation and preparing implementation WHY? to make the handling process and throughput of container barges faster and more reliable in the port of Antwerp HOW? a set of initiatives aimed at making structural improvements to the process such as communication, dedicated berths, consolidation of small volumes etc.

Actionplan inland navigation: Focus on different workflows Barges are confronted with delays at the deepsea terminals risk to reverse modal shift Crucial: Stable & reliable handling of barges at the deepsea terminals Structural & incremental measures Max. capacity (24/7, gangs etc.) 1 Unused slots Planning 2 Idle & mooring time Consolidation Efficiency 3 Digitisation 4 Shortages Resources Net capacity Decrease losses & increase capacity for container barges Raise reliability of the planning Increase efficiency for all stakeholders

Joint action plan for smooth barge handling Resources Collaboration & Planning Digitalisation Consolidation 13

Enabling digital business

Digitalization: Why now? Improved efficiency Technology maturity Globalisation

Digitalization: The starting point shows the potential

A vibrant Logistics Technology Community with lot s of new actors, creating even more data interfacing challenges many technology companies emerging focussing on further optimising a part of the supply chain. They require data as well as generate new data NxtPort - Building the Port of the Future 21

An open platform enabling a large ecosystem of logistic and technology companies to connect, to collaborate and to innovate/ By doing so they build the supply chain and port of the future

NxtPort Architecture: INGEST STORE SAFELY ORCHESTRATE / CORRELATE / SHARE PROTECT MASTER AND REFERENCE DATA API API WEB APPLICATION TRANSACTIONAL (B2B) DATA BINARY DATA STREAMING (IoT) DATA NxtPort enabling and supporting the creation of value added applications by providing a common access point to all relevant data API API API API MOBILE APPLICATION VALUE ADDED API ENTERPRISE SYSTEM EXTERNAL DATA API API API DATA PROVIDERS APP PROVIDER DATA USERS

Open to co-create with a larger eco-system of partners Nxtport 2017 NxtPort - Building the Port of the Future 24

NxtPort, a digital enabler, uplifting the community standards Data Reuse data digitally Common data model Status Follow status of objects Real time Single point of truth Uniform Directory services Digitization of communication Uniformization of interactions Streamlining of processes community process orchestration & document workflows 25
