MRP Planning routines were changed; many products were re-designed to reduce the number of parts used, purchasing contracts and delivery times were adapted; a J.i.t assembly process for gas control valves was introduced to reduce assembly time to 1 day instead of weeks. Results were a general overall lead time and stock reduction of some 50 % and an overall cost of goods sold reduction of some 10 %
