2 Areas of application The linear module is supplied in accordance with the specifications AluFlex has received from you in your role as client. It has been designed and dimensioned to satisfy the requirements you have specified in a safe manner. If the area of application or the linear module s original design are modified, safety can be impaired. Prior to any conversion of the linear unit or change of area of application, we recommend that you contact AluFlex for advice and suggestions. Safety and CE marking Different goods and transport applications require different design solutions and safety devices. Ensure that you have ordered and received the linear module and any motor assembly that are dimensioned and suitable for use in the environment in which they are to work, and for the types of product they are to move. From a legal perspective, the linear module is not a complete machine and is therefore not CE marked according to the Machinery Directive. CE marking must be carried out as soon as the product is complete and ready to be taken into operation, for example when electricity is connected and the product is connected to an actuator or an overall control system. Provided the linear module is assembled and installed in accordance with good technical safety practice and is used as specified at the time of order, it satisfies the requirements for CE marking. See the EC Declaration of Conformity. IMPORTANT BEFORE USING THE LINEAR MODULE Carefully read through the operating and safety instructions. Check the equipment and make sure that the linear module is correctly assembled and installed, and that the necessary safety devices are working properly. Unpacking Check that the contents correspond with your order. When checking that the lengths of the linear unit are correct, check the following measurements: L = total length of the linear unit LM = Only the length of the Aluminium profile on the linear module (does not apply to JM) In the case of two tables on the linear unit, check the c/c measurements between the tables. The tendered lengths can be found in your tender and order confirmation. Dimensioned values for the Linear unit and any motor assembly can be found in your tender from. Page 2 (5)

3 Installation The linear unit has been built according to your specifications and your order. Assemble the linear unit according to your wishes and in accordance with good technical safety practice. The electrical installation must be carried out by a professional with the appropriate authorisation. recommends that the linear unit be built in with a safety cage, light beam or similar, making impossible to come into contact with the linear module during operation. recommends that the motor-driven linear unit be connected with a frequency converter or servo amplifier with an absolute sensor, so that you never miss the zero and collide with the end position. The second alternative includes an end position switch to make certain that the end position on the linear unit is never reached. Supply the linear unit with the necessary safety devices. Safety instructions Depending on the environment in which the equipment is to operate, it may be necessary to have various safety devices to prevent accidents. Try in the first instance to prevent damage or injuries by shielding the equipment with a safety cage, light beam or similar. If the production process requires one or more operators to be in the vicinity of or directly adjacent to the linear unit, you should investigate the need for physical protection over the moving parts that you consider to be dangerous. If you are unsure, we recommend that you seek the assistance of the Labour Inspectorate or some other body with expertise in this field. Even if you supply the linear unit with safety equipment, normal care and attention must always be observed when in the vicinity of the unit. Safety equipment does not provide absolute protection, but merely guarantees an acceptable level of safety. Make sure that no unauthorised parties are within the risk zone when the linear unit is in use. Perform daily checks to ensure that any safety devices are working properly. Never allow inexperienced individuals to operate the linear unit without first having read and understood the operating and safety instructions. The electrical equipment may only be opened, repaired or replaced by authorised personnel. Consider the safety consequences before anybody makes changes to or carries out work in actuators, control units or some other part of the equipment. Page 3 (5)

4 Adjustment and maintenance Regarding the lubrication of the linear unit, please follow the enclosed lubricating instructions for the linear unit. If you would like a PDF document detailing the lubricating and maintenance instructions, you can find this on our website under PDF files and instructions/maintenance. For belt-driven units, the belt is adjusted and tensioned in our factory. In the event of the belt pulling at an angle or making an abnormal noise, please contact. Do not tension the belt yourself!
