EGNOS-based ITS for freight transport and logistic GUF Workshop - GNSS for Optimising Logistics GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Telespazioin EGNOS/Galileo services and applications Industrial positioning Service Provider for GNSS downstream Roadmap Ready for EGNOS today and preparing for Galileo In Europe and extending to neighbouring countries (starting from North African countries) Today EGNOS services: EGNOS OS + EGNOS EDAS Exploiting EGNOS added value Multiconstellation Commercial and professional applications Land transport and ITS sectors GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

EGNOS added value EGNOS OS Enhancement of position accuracy wrt GPS Accuracy improvement wrtgps ranging from 0,1 mto 3,7 m(on average, also in case of dense tall buildings/ foliage conditions/ urban roads) EGNOS/EDAS Further enhancement of position accuracy wrt GPS Horizontal accuracy improvement wrtgps ranging from 0,1 mto 4 m(on average, also in case of dense tall buildings/ foliage conditions/ urban roads) Capability to provide a level of guarantee of position/capability to qualify position data Protection level GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

The product Consists of several software modules, connecting to EDAS to get EGNOS data and implementing a Telespazio proprietary navigation solution Uses EGNOS OS and EGNOS/EDAS Retrofits existing GPS tracking & tracing systems, enabling to use EGNOS/EDAS Works with mass-market automotive receivers, processes raw data from GPS/EGNOS receivers Exploits EGNOS corrections and integrity information Complies to CWA 16390:2012 Delivers EGNOS commercial based services augmenting the performances of the EGNOS OS: Improving the availability of the EGNOS OS Enhancing GPS position accuracy by approx. 4 metres Processing the EGNOS integrity into the protection level related to the position, providing the qualification/confidence in the position information GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

how it works GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

the services GPS + EGNOS OS + EGNOS CS/EDAS & Accurate latitude & longitude HPL Validated in: extra-urban and urban environments life scenarios real business cases GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

the performances True path GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Markets/applications Road Tracking & tracing of professional fleets (e.g. HGV, truck and trailer) Tracking & tracing of dangerous goods and nuclear Localization and monitoring of urban regulated fleets (e.g. city logistics and service fleets for freight deliveries) Logistics/road-maritime-rail Wagons localization and monitoring Container tracking Asset tracking Target users Solutions developers/integrators Service providers User platforms/systems (business and institutional users) GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Markets/applications Road Tracking & tracing of professional fleets (e.g. HGV, truck and trailer) Tracking & tracing of dangerous goods and nuclear Localization and monitoring of urban regulated fleets (e.g. city logistics and service fleets for freight deliveries) Logistics/road-maritime-rail Wagons localization and monitoring Container tracking Asset tracking Target users Solutions developers/integrators Service providers User platforms/systems (business and institutional users) GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Use case: tracking & tracing of road professional fleets Benefits for users Precise Trustable and independent Higher confidence/guarantee on position For risk management, law enforcement, safety and commercial purposes Urban freights Perishables Explosives and nuclear High-value goods GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Use case: logistics/multimodal (road-rail-maritime) container tracking Benefits for users Trustable and independent from operator For quality contract and facilitation of customs procedures (EU neighbouring countries) Adding value to GPS now, and preparation to Galileo Special traffic and dual use goods (e.g. tobacco) GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Use case: tracking of rail tankers Chemicals Benefits for users Trustable and independent from operator Reliability and continuity at the countries borders GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Outlook Focus on rail freight Technology - turning from prototypes to products LCS full characterization for rail and in a multiconstellation environment Turning from demonstrations to operational business cases Contributing to technical specifications/standardization (e.g. interoperability) Key stakeholders awareness Supporting policy elaboration GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Thank you! Questions? Antonella Di Fazio GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

EGNOS OS performances GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

EGNOS/EDAS performances with Higher independence from the GPS/EGNOS receiver technology GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March

Multiconstellation environment Without EGNOS 95th percentile MDB (m) (mask angle of 10o) With EGNOS Average satellites in view and percentage of time when FDE is unavailable (mask angle of 10o) GUF Workshop, Prague, 14 March
