It is part of the range of Squarell solutions for advanced vehicle data solutions. With configurable functionality and extended connectivity SOLID-J can be used in automotive applications like telematics, real time monitoring, measurement and interfacing. The Squarell SOLID-J offers more than just streaming data. It processes the latter to provide it to you in order to accomplish advanced fleet management. How does it work? What is a Vehicle Data Interface? A Vehicle Data Interface is an electronic device to read data from a vehicle data network and convert it into RS232 or other standardized protocols such as CANbus (FMS/J1939). This data is then standardised and therefore comparable for the entire fleet. You can read data from a brand specific vehicle network with this interface. Most vehicles are ordered from the factory without FMS interface. With the Squarell solutions, you do not have to visit the truck dealer to activate the FMS gateway since our CANbus (FMS/J1939) interfaces are ready to use. Info/parameters The SOLID-J sends various data by FMS/J1939 CANbus or RS232. This data contains the FMS standard parameters, J1939 parameters, but also Squarell calculated parameters that can help you analyse the vehicle performance with the view to improve it. Important: The availability of data depends on the brand, model, year and configuration of the vehicle. 5 DAP What is DAP? The Squarell Driver Awareness Panel is an intelligent in-vehicle display providing drivers the stimulation they need to drive smarter. It works on every vehicle with a Squarell interface and gives visual and audible notifications to the driver on several performance indicators without being intrusive. DAP actively monitors the vehicle CANbus and analyses the CANbus data. The DAP calculates and compares the data against fleet and vehicle performance standards. When required, the DAP signals good or bad driving behaviour during the trip. This method makes the driver aware of his/her driving style and let him/her act accordingly. Various Squarell algorithms are implemented like harsh driving, high RPM and anticipated driving. After ignition on the DAP will show a status report. The 6 LED s will give you an overview of the driving style. The status report can also be sent to a telematics device. Why DAP? An SFD Bluetooth device can inform the driver through a smartphone with actual information about his truck, trailer and cargo. The Squarell Bluetooth dongle is a very easy to install SFD (Special Function Device). The Bluetooth 2.1 dongle can easily overtake the existing RS232 connection as the communication protocol stays the same. The vehicle data you used to receive via RS232 can now easily be sent to your Android smart phone. When the driver is outside his vehicle, the Bluetooth device can lose connection. The Squarell BT2.1 dongle has a 8Mb buffer to store the vehicle data when the connection with the end device is lost. The Bluetooth device is part of Squarell s advanced vehicle data solutions and products range. With a configurable functionality and extended connectivity, the Squarell Bluetooth device can be used in various automotive applications such as telematics, fleet management, real time monitoring, measurement and control/interfacing. How does it work? The discoverability can be set but the device is by default discoverable and available for pairing, the procedure of which needs to be initiated by the end device, e.g. mobile Android phone. Once the pairing is successful, it is always possible to re-connect with the Bluetooth device. Depending on the type of end device it is or is not possible to have multiple Bluetooth connections. In most cases there will be no problem with a Bluetooth car kit in combination with the Squarell Bluetooth device. 5

6 Fuel Level Sensor Some vehicle models don t support fuel level as parameter on the vehicle CANbus. The Squarell Fuel Level sensor is a universal product to read the Fuel level from the existing fuel level sensor on the tank and translates this signal into a standard Squarell message. Together with a Squarell Interface this message becomes available on CANbus or RS232. How does it work? The Fuel Level Sensor is a small device mounted in the truck near to the Squarell FMS interface. The cable to connect to the existing fuel level sensor on the tank is 6 meters long and can be extended or shortened if needed. The volume of the tank is divided in 250 steps. This means 4/10% accuracy. The Squarell Fuel Level Sensor always needs a Squarell interface device. CANcliQ Until present, it was difficult to read data safely and reliably from a vehicle data network. After finding the right CANbus wires, you had to find the right place to connect, strip the wires and solder or crimp them to make a physical connection with the CANbus. How does it work? The Squarell CANcliQ reads vehicle signals without making a wire-to -wire connection. This technology guarantees that non-intrusive signals are sent to the vehicle CANbus. This eliminates liability matters, warranty issues or possible wrong connections. 7 DatacliQ After the launch of the CANcliQ, Squarell introduced the new and innovative DatacliQ. The CANcliQ could be used on a direct CANbus. Due to extensive development, the DatacliQ can now also be used to retrieve data off a J1708 bus, an ISO11992 bus. How does it work? With the DatacliQ, we can retrieve data from several sources continuing to offer better and more complete vehicle data solutions. While we ensure that retrieving vehicle data is non-intrusive, we offer a more complete and rich user experience. At this moment Squarell has DatacliQ s available to read CANbus, J1708 or ISO Squarell software ExpertView/device management ExpertView is a system built for Squarell customers to manage their devices. It is a web application that also communicates with the Squarell iupload software. You can select the latest firmware, software profiles or DCF s (Device Configuration File). The system works with authorisation tiers. Depending on the level granted to you, you will have access to the various functionalities. icheck icheck is an easy tool to perform a quick installation check. It can be installed on a laptop and shows you the RS232 output of the Device. Once you see the most important parameters coming through, you will be sure of the installation of the Squarell Device with the correct CANbus, J1708 and/or K-line. Currently icheck only works together with Squarell DCF s with RS232 output. If you like to use it with your customer specific DCF, please contact your local account manager. iupload With iupload, it is easy to update a device with the latest firmware and choose the correct DCF for the device. iupload is a program that can be connected to our server. As such, all our customers can load the latest Firmware and new DCF s into their devices. DCF (Device Configuration File) Our technicians are always busy improving our DCF s and adding new functions. We make changes to support new vehicle types and models. It is also possible to add your customer specific requirements. Please contact your Account Manager to discuss. 7

8 Certified Installer Course Knowhow and training are key elements for quality installs. Therefore, we offer CANbus training services for installers, technicians and service engineers. In a one-day training course, the principles of CANbus, vehicle data, Squarell products and perfect, verified installations are covered. The training ends with an exam. Certified installers can rely on priority support, the unique Squarell Installation Instructions handbook and special web based services. By measuring the driving behaviour via the vehicle data interface, you can see why fuel consumption is out of line and how to take immediate action. Just knowing the litres of fuel used is not enough; you need to know what the causes are for bad fuel consumption. And by focussing on these causes, you will save more than 5% on fuel. Cruise control: Do you know if your driver drives a smooth and even trip? By measuring the cruise control usage and steady drive state, you can analyse the driving s efficiency. Driving an international truck less than 25% means too much fuel! Lower maintenance: Vehicle data can lower your maintenance costs by showing you the trend in decreased performance, engine temperatures and diagnostics. How much does a breakdown cost you? Proactive maintenance is a real cost saver, and the data is available! More control: Know about the fuel consumption, mileage, working time directive and truck performance. This gives you more control over your fleet and your transport. It will significantly reduce costs. Excessive RPM: Truck technology changes fast, new Euro 5 and 6 engines have an optimum RPM range which is % lower than Euro 2 and 3 engines. Excessive RPM can raise your fuel bill by 3%! Excessive engine power: Your truck has a lot of power, but do you always need it to be on time or does your driver use its power randomly? Excessive engine power usage, acceleration or uneven driving raises your fuel bill with another 2%. Optimised vehicle configuration: Do you know if your truck has the best driveline to perform your transport task? Vehicle data gives you the information if your driveline is up to the task. We see a lot of trucks with possible configuration problems. Increase your knowhow and reduce your operational costs. Good configured trucks can lower your fuel bill by 5%! 8
