A Unique Imprint HSA Systems was established in 1993 in Denmark. Since then the company has continuously grown. The company s core business is developing and manufacturing of high resolution inkjet printers, as well as a range of other products for Coding, Marking and Commercial Printing applications. Including head office, branch office, a subsidiary in Paris and production facilities in the Czech Republic, the group employs approximately 60 people. Among HSA Systems customers are many leading international companies within different industry market sectors, all having the highest requirements of flexibility, efficiency and logistics. At HSA Systems we approach a new co-operation in a professional and open-minded way. We believe in the importance of combining the customers requirements and expectations with our knowledge to provide a solution which can fulfill their needs. Global network The equipment is available through our own offices or a network of distributors and integrators. Thanks to these partners, HSA Systems is now supplying stand alone systems and integration kits to companies around the globe. Service & Support Service and support is provided through technicians and support staff who have all been specially trained on the HSA Systems equipment. HSA Systems appreciate the demand for fast back-up, this is why the factory is available always for extended support.

HSAJET - HP TIJ 2.5 Inkjet technology advantages A reliable base technology makes it possible to meet production and quality requirements of the industry. Our integrated systems, based upon HP technology, offer reliable and cost effective solutions during installation, operation and service. Our solutions are mainly based upon centralised controlling of printer and camera from e.g. a touch panel. Having only one interface the handling time is reduced and risk of errors minimised. HP print heads use thermal inkjet (TIJ) technology, providing continuously high-resolution for sharp text and crisp barcodes. The wide variety of ink products, including pigment and dye-based, standard and quick-dry in a wide range of formulations, offers a choice and solution for the range of stocks demanded in the market. Alternative to the traditional coding methods Our HP based inkjet systems offer a high line-speed and minimum downtime. The systems create high quality printing, offering optimum read rate, consequently maximum production efficiency is obtained. HSA Systems inkjet solutions have advanced technology to increase security compared to traditional coding methods. Printing Datamatrix in accordance to GS1 standard followed by verification, and grading by our integrated vision control, ensures that only optimum products are released. Advantages of using Datamatrix coding Compact coding. Takes up minimum space on the packaging Hidden coding using UV or IR invisible ink Decrease in cost in preventing counterfeit using tracking system The safety in using Datamatrix is high and it is possible to read information carried by the Datamatrix, even if a large percentage of the code has been damaged. Track & Trace GS1 Data solves challenges concerning e.g. product authenticity, origin and traceability, product quality etc., in the pharmaceutical industries. The individual packages can be traced through the supply chain from manufacturer to pharmacy and consumer. Clean Room The inks are odour free and contain mainly water. Unlike other technologies, with our systems it is not necessary to keep the printers ready for production by re-circulating inks or to have stand-by heating; thereby evaporation of the ink is avoided.

Demands from the Industry The coding requirements within the pharmaceutical industry have been increasing for years. There is an increased focus on the fact that the individual products can be tracked through the supply chain, but also a concern that the products can be counterfeited and sent to the market as being original products. HSA Systems responds HSA Systems appreciate and responds to the industry call for specially adapted printing equipment with a guaranteed continuous high quality. Our systems are designed with the customers requirement for ease of use, e.g. icon based touch interface and with security in mind. HSA Systems pharmaceutical Coding & Marking systems, built on HP technology, provide quality printing. With integrated vision control, a subsequent verification of the printed data can be executed. A printable log gathers information of data printed. For increased security and traceability, Datamatrix can be printed on the product. Further invisible imprint can be added. Our systems include, of course, all the expected security features like: User-level access control, double approval of prompts, enlarged print history logging, permanent overwriting of stored data, and more. All these features may be changed but only by each company s system administrator. Our Windows-based systems are also offered as an embedded solution which means that speeds are optimized because only necessary Windows features are present. With HSA Systems as a supplier of end-to-end solutions to the industry, ranging from printer controllers, touch interface to integrated camera solutions, you will avoid costly integration and application issues. Our solutions to the pharmaceutical industry make it possible for customers to comply to relevant requirements within GAMP and other regulatory requirements, such as 21 CFR Part 11 and E-Pedigree.

HSA Systems Product Keywords HSA Systems provides turnkey solutions which can, be controlled centrally e.g. from a 15-inch touch panel. This means that from one place you can manage both your printer, camera and reject part of any damaged or incorrectly produced products. In the portfolio of HSAJET products, you will find a range of controllers, each of which is suitable for simple as well as complex Coding & Marking jobs. If there is a need for simple product identification or a complete system with vision control, the right solution can be found in our range of products. An intuitive drag & drop interface makes it is easy to create new layouts to which the locally or network stored database can be connected. Our software handles a very wide range of database formats for example SQL, Access, XLS, CSV etc. If templates are being used, the time taken for transition to new jobs is reduced to a few minutes. With an HSA Vision system connected, information can be graded and verified. A signal is automatically sent to the rejection system if the grade level is not reached. Statistics for individual print and lot are available. HSA Systems proprietary in-house developed software and printers support 2D data matrix encoding to the GS1 standard. Systems solutions Our systems are tailored to customer s needs and can easily be adapted to individual language and market requirements. This means savings through improved efficiency. Our printers can produce 1D/2D barcodes, text and graphics of high quality on a wide range of materials. HSA Systems inkjet printers are quick and simple to set-up variable data in real-time e.g. current date, best before dates, consecutive numbering. Integration of our inkjet printers eliminate the need for off-line labelling and thereby subsequent problems associated with linkage to the existing production.

H. Lundbeck A/S selected HSAJET H. Lundbeck is an international pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Copenhagen. The company is engaged in research, development and production of pharmaceutical drugs. Printing equipment manufactured by HSA Systems was selected when the company, H. Lundbeck, was to implement 2D coding according to the GS1 system. After a successful pilot project H. Lundbeck has introduced the GS1 systems 2D coding on all pharmaceutical packaging. The industry has made it a legal requirement that each pack sold in the pharmacy, must be marked with specific information, e.g., batch number, expiration date, possibly production date, etc. H. Lundbeck has put in the effort to having the right printer solution developed and finding a supplier who could provide all the process engineering requirements, for example printing of the 2D code is carried out at a speed that corresponds to their machines. Tests have been carried out successfully on pilot projects, internally at the company, on products for Turkish and Belgian markets. A parallel test has been carried out at one of the company s contract packers, which handle packaging of large volumes. The system was used for production on the first packaging line at H. Lundbeck s head office, in Valby, by the end of Thereafter further 2 lines have been added. Source: Paa Stregen GS1 Denmark.
