JOB PURPOSE To maximise income for Hospiscare from the efficient and effective management of: A. Stock B. Staff C. Health and Safety To support the Head of Retail, providing strategic leadership to drive forward the Hospiscare Business Development Plan, increasing income and maximising the return on investment. 3. KEY RESULT AREAS/PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 4.1 Key Performance Indicators Sales and profit Actively monitor and review weekly and monthly sales performance, identifying opportunities to increase income from efficient and effective line management and cooperation with all other retail departments. Take responsibility for the recycling and waste budget/expenditure, identifying new initiatives for recycling with the aim to reduce costs and zero landfill. Manage new goods to ensure that stock fulfilment/replenishment is achieved utilising technology, with robust processes to achieve and exceed new goods budgets. Analyse and interpret EPOS reports/data to initiate specific stock campaigns aimed at increasing stock levels to drive sales forward. Review costs and initiatives regularly to improve efficiency Demonstrate commercial understanding of financial reporting and budgeting, taking an active role in reviewing financial performances, implementing measures when necessary so budgets are achieved. Achieve agreed targets in relation to the following: 1. Recycling income/expenditure 2. Refuse costs 3. Electrical sales and items sold 4. Collections sales and volume 5. New goods 6. 3 4.1.2 Stock strategy, management and planning Proactively manage the Stock Manager to ensure correct sorting processes, quality control and stock flow incoming/outgoing from the HEC is achieved. Ensure Gift Aid items within the HEC are given priority, that the correct processes are followed so compliant with HMRC requirements, proactively addressing any Gift Aid issue to ensure maximum Gift Aid revenue is achieved. Undertake weekly checks to ensure consistent stock quality, taking appropriate action feedback is received about substandard stock being sent. Manage the skill set of the team, sharing knowledge and best practice to increase sales and maximise on all opportunities. Ensure Trading Standards regulations regarding second hand stock are adhered to, communicating any changes from Trading Standards in a timely manner to relevant parties to ensure Hospiscare remains compliant. Be proactive in increasing external partnerships for stock generation purposes. Liaise with the Corporate Relationships Manager (Fundraising team) regarding the running of corporate days held at the Enterprise Centre. Contribute to identifying new opportunities within the business development plan; create business cases to develop the identified areas; project manage and deliver the resulting strategies Electrical Oversee the electrical department making sure that maximum value is achieved for every item donated through the correct diagnosis and repair based on working saleable market value. Initiate specific stock campaigns to ensure supply and demand of electrical items is achieved New goods Support the Stock Manager with the new goods operation to ensure fulfilment of new goods for retail locations, support groups and external supporters is achieved. Be responsible for the purchasing/signing off of new goods, being aware of and following trends to maximise sale opportunities. Reviewed: July 2018 Page 3 of 8

4 4.1.5 Recycling/upcycling/re-use and waste management Regularly review current textile/recycling prices to ensure maximum income is achieved and service level fulfilled for our operational needs. Responsible for all on-site recycling materials, proactively looking for new opportunities to increase recycling and reduce waste costs. Oversee the managing of stock at the HEC deemed suitable for SENSE, ensuring consistency of quality is achieved to maintain and increase recycling income within this area. Support the Stock Manager with identifying stock deemed suitable for upcycling, taking into account current trends to ensure maximum value is achieved from these items. Carry out regular checks on waste and recycling items, identifying stock which is sellable and cascading the information to the wider team, to reduce waste costs and increase sales. Network with local reuse/recycling groups, attending the Charity Retail Association stock and recycling group Logistics Oversee the logistics operation, supporting the Logistics Supervisor to ensure agreed service levels to stores, customers and corporate clients are achieved. Support the Logistics Supervisor in the management of vehicles to ensure that efficiency is achieved from transport. Regularly review van lease hire agreements to ensure best value is being achieved Line management duties Line manage the Stock Manager, Logistics Supervisor and Appliance Engineer. Manage the performance of individual team members, ensuring their skills are developed to their maximum, whilst adhering to correct procedures In respect of HR policies and procedures, including induction, PDD (personal development discussion), capability, disciplinary, and managing for attendance. 5 Working alongside the Volunteering Support Officer, proactively build, maintain and line manage a team of volunteers who assist with the sorting, picking and dispatch at the Enterprise Centre. 4.2 Health & Safety and Environment (S, H&E) Oversee on a daily basis all health and safety requirements within the warehouse area of the Enterprise Centre, taking corrective action as and when required and informing/liaising with the Hospiscare Estates team when necessary. Ensure safe working systems are adhered to in conjunction with Hospiscare policies and procedures and compliant with all relevant legal requirements. Undertake regular health and safety checks in line with Hospiscare procedures. Create a safety awareness culture through health and safety best practice, ensuring accident and near miss forms are completed as required. Be responsible for safe working practices being adhered to in the warehouse, including use of equipment and manual handling guidelines. Ensure correct processing procedures are followed at all times and that work areas are kept clean and tidy. Ensure that fire regulations are strictly adhered to. Complete online training as and when required. Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by acts or omissions at work 4.3 General Be aware of and adhere to Hospiscare policies at all times Take part in progress/performance reviews throughout the year Cooperate with other Hospiscare departments Attend training courses and complete online training modules as necessary to meet the requirements of the post Take responsibility for own personal development, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills Undertake any other duties as requested by management which are reasonably deemed to be within the scope of the role Reviewed: July 2018 Page 5 of 8

6 4.4 Other Share the responsibility of opening and closing the HEC with the Warehouse Shop Manager. Liaise with the Warehouse Shop Manager and/or Estates team when holiday cover is required, so the security of the HEC (opening and closing) is maintained. Provide support for the Warehouse Shop when the Shop Manager is absent. Cooperate with other Hospiscare fundraising initiatives, aiming to promote a good working relationship with the Income Generation team. Act as an ambassador for Hospiscare, maintaining good public relations and promoting the Hospiscare service.
