3 General This manual completes the main User s and Installation manual when the UPS is provided with the. Please read first the main manual and install the UPS according this instruction. 1. Installation 1.1 Environment All the requirements concerning environment described in this chapter (Installation) or chapter 2 (Technical specifications) must be met. If they are neglected the manufacturer cannot guarantee the safety of personnel during installation or use, or that the unit will function properly. When locating the UPS system and the battery options, the following points have to be remembered: Avoid temperature and humidity extremes. To maximise the life time of the batteries, an ambient temperature of 15 C to 25 C is recommended. Provide shelter from the elements (especially moisture) Make sure that ventilation and space requirements are met for installation of UPS. 1.2 s WARNING! Do not open the UPS or bypass cabinet! The UPS and bypass cabinet contain high voltage and current which can injure or kill personnel and damage equipment. All operations inside the unit must be carried out only by a service engineer from the manufacturer or from an agent authorised by the manufacturer. HIGH LEAKAGE CURRENT! 4 1.2.3 Installing PW 9125-BP The Maintenance Bypass switch cabinet can be installed in a rack or on the wall depending on how you mount the mounting brackets to the cabinet. 2. Check that electrical connections to the installation site have been properly executed. Also check that fuse ratings and cable dimensions are met according to table below. 3. Switch off the supply to the distribution point to which the UPS unit is to be connected. Make sure that there is no power. 4. Connect the loads and UPS to the Bypass cabinet. Finally connect the Bypass cabinet to the utility. 5. 6 1.3 Starting UPS Switch the Maintenance Bypass to position UPS. Follow the instructions given in UPS User manual Users guide to operations for starting the UPS 1.4 Using the Maintenance Bypass The normal position for the Bypass switch is UPS. In this position UPS will feed the load. If you need to service the UPS or replace the UPS the steps to do it are as follows (instructions also on front panel of the bypass cabinet) Transfer from normal operation to bypass 1. Set the PW KVA to bypass by pushing the ON button for 6 seconds. The unit will go to bypass the and ON Bypass LED will be lit 2. Switch the maintenance bypass switch to BYPASS position. The critical load is now connected directly to mains supply 3. The UPS unit can now be shut down by pushing the OFF button and opening the battery breaker on rear panel of the UPS 4. Switch the maintenance bypass switch to SERV position 5. The UPS can now be disconnected and serviced Transfer from bypass to normal operation 1. Ensure that the maintenance bypass switch is in SERV position 2. Connect the UPS to the maintenance bypass switch unit 3. Switch the maintenance bypass switch to BYPASS position 4. The critical load is still connected directly to the mains supply. The input of the UPS is connected to the mains supply. Close the battery breaker on the back of the unit and start up the UPS by pushing the ON button 5. Set the PW KVA to bypass by pushing the ON button for 6 seconds. The unit will go to bypass the and ON Bypass LED will be lit 6. Switch the maintenance bypass switch to UPS position 7. Set the UPS to normal mode by pushing the ON button. Check that normal mode LED in front panel is lit. The UPS now supports the critical load Revision A
