1 Technical guidelines regarding inserts 1. Preparing offers 1.1 Offer, reservation and booking The prerequisite for a firm offer is the information given by the customer regarding: The delivery area to be covered (postcode area, towns/cities, districts) and the number of brochures to be delivered. The dimensions, scope and weight of each brochure The desired delivery date (distribution date) 1.2 Reservation Dates can be reserved after arrangement with Deutsche Post. Written binding confirmation/cancellation is required at least thirty days before the delivery date otherwise the reservation will be forfeited. 1.3 Booking The order form or booking, specifying the data referred to in item 1, must be made in writing at least eleven working days before the delivery date (usually on Mondays). When booking via Target Group Scout, there is an earlier booking deadline of sixteen working days before the delivery date (usually on Tuesdays). There are special arrangements for public holidays. 2. Dimensions, weights, scope and technical parameters Please ensure you observe the following technical guidelines for producing your brochures. Brochures that do not comply with these guidelines cannot be processed. For smooth processing, please therefore also inform your respective contract partners. 2.1 Sample In the case of the first processing of a new or modified insert, five samples need to be submitted no later than fifteen working days before the delivery date. Only through their approval will brochure orders be binding for Deutsche Post. Please mark your samples with an article number. If the characteristics (dimensions, scope, paper quality etc.) of the brochures cannot be assessed for production according to the above-mentioned samples, please send fifty samples at short notice for a test run under real production conditions. If no sample is provided as described above, the first delivery is considered a test. If the supplement cannot be machine processed, it may be possible to deliver it to the customer after consultation with you outside of the product. A second delivery with the sample that cannot be processed automatically is not possible. 2.2 Dimensions Maximum dimensions Single pages: mm Multi-page inserts: mm Minimum dimensions: mm Other dimensions require special approval.

2 2.3 Weights Minimum weight: 5g per copy Maximum weight: 100g per copy Other weights require need to be agreed upon. 2.4 Single pages Taking into consideration 2.2 Dimensions and 2.3 Weights, the following special conditions apply: Single perforated A4 pages: at least 135g/m² Larger sizes with an area weight of at least 50g/m² need to be folded to A4 size ( mm) 2.5 Scope Brochures should contain at least eight pages. For fewer pages (4 and 6 pages) an area weight of at least 100g/m² (related to folded brochure) is required. Always fold along the longest side. 2.6 Types of folding Machinable types of folding: folded seam (1), 8-sided altar fold (3), parallel centre fold (5) and cross fold (6). Non-machinable types of folding: altar fold (2) and leporello/zigzag folds (4). Always fold along the longest side Cut All brochures must be cut at right angles and in the same format. 2.8 Accessories and special dimensions Accessories need to be attached to the inside of brochures. They need to be attached to the top or bottom of the brochures, flush in the fold. All brochures with internal or externally attached accessories need to be approved by Deutsche Post. The processing of brochures with special formats and product samples is not possible without prior technical examination by Deutsche Post. 2.9 Brochures with loose daughter inserts The daughter insert needs to be placed in the middle of the jacket product, aligned along the fold The daughter insert must be neither thicker, larger nor heavier than the jacket product For A4 inserts the daughter insert must not be smaller than A5 Inserts smaller than A5 with daughter inserts require separate approval 2.10 Brochures with loose wraparounds Brochures with loose wraparounds require separate approval Binding Brochures should be prepared with fold gluing; spine gluing requires separate approval. In the case of wire stapling, the wire thickness used needs to be appropriate to thickness of the back of the insert; the same applies to the staple length. The brochure needs to be 1.5 times thicker than the staple Perforation If the brochures contain a perforation on one of the outsides, there needs to be a gap of at least 5mm between the last fold of the brochure and the perforation. The cut-to-gap ratio of a perforation must not exceed 1.5:1 (also applies to one-sided coupon flyers).

3 3. Packaging, delivered quantity and transport 3.1 Posting The customer posts the advertising material free of charge with complete accompanying documents. The delivery note needs to state: The word Delivery date (distribution day) Customer area Brochure title or article number or motif and/or advertised location (version number for brochure variants within the same distribution week) Sender and recipient Number of pallets Total number of brochures posted (sorted by version, if applicable) Number of brochures per pallet Please ensure that the pallet posting notes have the same text and leave space for remarks. It is important to ensure that the deadlines set out below are adhered to in order to ensure proper processing. Each posting needs to be registered in advance by telephone. Earliest posting date: Eight working days before delivery of the booked edition (usually from Thursday of the week before). If the delivery is too early (from nine working days before the delivery date), Deutsche Post reserves the right to not accept the posting of the brochure and to arrange a later date within the posting periods. Posting deadline for Saturday distribution: 18:00 on the fifth working day prior to the delivery of the booked edition (usually 18:00 on Mondays). Due to production reasons if the deadlines are not met, the brochures cannot be considered. Deutsche Post then reserves the right to postpone until the next best possible delivery date. This is co-ordinated with the customer. The customer shall bear the cost of non-scheduled posting. 3.2 Posting quantities For technical reasons, the posting quantity needs to include a surcharge of 1.5% on the booked quantity. Due to the mechanical processing, the minimum booking quantity is 30,000 copies per insert variant. 3.3 Posting condition The type and form of all brochures posted need to be such as to ensure that they can be machine processed perfectly and immediately. In exceptional cases, Deutsche Post can post-process the brochures, for which a charge will apply. The following cannot be processed: Stick together, highly electrostatically charged or dampen brochures Brochures with bent corners or edges, crimped folds or with displaced (round) backs 3.4 Storage Layer height: mm; straight, straight edge Individual layers or brochure bundles must not be tied or packed together. Should the brochures nevertheless be delivered in this form, the client shall bear the costs incurred. 3.5 Palletising Mixed pallets may not be delivered. Each pallet may contain only brochures for one area. And: only one brochure version per pallet. Stack brochures on reusable Euro pallets (80 120cm); maximum pallet height 1.20m Protect the brochures against

4 possible transport damage (mechanical stress) and, if necessary, against moisture and dirt penetrating All palletised inserts always need to be secured by stretch/ shrink film If necessary, a stable cardboard box should be inserted between the layers in order to avoid bending Brochures may not be damaged or bent by the packaging/ strapping Each pallet, like the posting note, must be marked clearly with a pallet card stating the contents and quantity Please avoid steel strapping The pallets must not be stacked The maximum gross weight is 700kg 3.6 Use of packaging Packaging must be kept to a minimum Use reusable pallets and lid boards Plastics and cardboard must be recyclable Please avoid the use of composite materials for packaging 3.7 Delivery of cardboards The delivery of a cardboard box hinders the smooth packaging of supplements and is generally not permitted. Exemption after approval: If a supplement, which should generally be machine-capable according to point 2, is not suitable for pallets, the Deutsche Post AG has to be contacted 15 working days in advance of the delivery date. If the cardboards are delivered without any advanced notice, the customer will be charged the additional costs. Points 3.1 to 3.6 apply analogously for a cardboard delivery. It is absolutely necessary to deliver the cartons on pallets after the approval of the Deutsche Post. Each cardboard has to be marked as follows: Name Release date (distribution day) Serial number (e.g. cardboard box 1 of 5) Brochure title or supplement version Number of leaflets per cardboad box The following has to be avoided: Delivery of several supplement versions in one cardboard box Bundling or entanglement of the supplements in the cardboard box Lacing of the cardboard boxes
