15 The following serves as a physical description of furniture that is deemed suitable for the Systems Furniture at the Healdsburg City Hall. Systems Furniture Manufacturers 1) Innovant 2) Requests for substitutions per FF&E General Requirements General Workstation Requirements Workstations shall have the ability to be upgraded with additions or exchanges of modesty panels, privacy walls, paper management accessories, monitor arms, shape building flexibility and user comfort. Floor supported panel or core wall systems are specifically not allowed, as they impair users in a sit-to-stand environment by either blocking the view of seated users or affording no privacy to standing users. Privacy screens, paper management accessories and flat panel display arms must therefore raise and lower with lifting surfaces. Workstations must be available in both adjustable and fixed height. Privacy is to be achieved via fabric or compressed polyester panels secured to the back of the Workstation worksurface, so they raise and lower with lifting surfaces. The ability to substitute privacy panels of a different material or finish in the future is required. Cable management, desktop monitor and accessory support and privacy panels must be integrated into the design of each Workstation. Routing of cabling through panels or walls is not acceptable. Additional features of the system shall be as follows: 6 incremental sizing shall be standard for all Workstation widths. Technical Specifications Worksurfaces must be constructed with 1 thick MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) substrate for superior load bearing characteristics and warpage resistance. M2 or M3 particleboard substrate is not an acceptable substitute. Substrate must be sealed on the underside with black or brown laminate backer sheet. The top of the worksurface is to be finished with horizontal forming grade high pressure laminate with options available from any standard selection from Wilsonart, Formica and Nevamar. Vertical forming grade laminate is not suitable or allowed due to known impact resistance issues. Input worksurface edges to be sealed with 3mm ABS edging. T-mold, post-formed edging and self-edge laminate will not be considered acceptable. Worksurface nosing shall be available in a variety of standard colors. Ergonomic worksurfaces shall be available to provide user defined comfort and sit-to stand function functionality. Lifting columns shall be integrated into the Workstation design without the necessity of panel structures for lateral stability. Lifting columns shall be a motorized chain drive actuator/column assembly with 1 motor per column and a parallel/memory drive that is balanced by means of a control unit that takes account of and provides correction for oblique loading of the desk. Lifting capacity shall be a maximum of 700N (159# gross) per column and self-lock shall be a maximum of 2400N (540# gross) per column. Workstations shall enable ergonomically correct positioning to accommodate both seated and fully standing postures with a minimum worksurface height of 29 up to at least 52 AFF for ease of IT servicing workstation. Control of height adjustment is to be provided by a user control switch below the worksurface nosing or integrated into worksurface with up and down buttons. User control shall feature momentary contact buttons as a safety measure to immediately cease lift motion upon release of lift control. Workstation Framework shall be constructed of heavy gauge tubular and sheet steel and finished in powdercoat. All welds shall be finished so as to not register through powdercoat finish. Frame construction (whether at the 120 degree stations or the center workstation island) shall be based on an open plan bench construction. Panel systems and purely millwork construction are not acceptable. Privacy Panels shall be available in 12, 14 and 16 standard heights with width options to match all Workstation components. Panel options must be available in: Fabric, tackable, 1 thick Compressed Polyester, 1 thick Fabric panels shall be constructed of 1 COOSA tackable core. Fabric options to be LUNA solids or patterns or approved COM. Personal storage / casegoods / millwork shall be available in a palette of standard solutions in either steel or MDF construction. MDF constructed storage items shall utilize a ¾ core material finished in high pressure plastic laminate or wood veneer. Drawer boxes to be constructed of ½ maple plywood with tongue and groove assembly, finished in a clear lacquer. Metal storage items shall be finished in powder coat steel. A castor beneath the bottom file drawer (or a counter weight in steel pedestal design) is required for anti-tip support. A variety of drawer pulls is to be available for selection. Steel drawer pedestals must be of all-welded steel frame construction, formed or hemmed in key areas for strength. Steel pedestals are to have an 18 gauge CRS inner frame with gauge CRS outer panels. All Power Components shall be UL listed and configured for application in California including Title 24 requirements if applicable. An 8 wire-4 circuit system for distribution of workstation power is a requirement. Infeeds provided by manufacture and installed by licensed electrician. Individual plug strips located below height adjustable workstations shall be provided for localized power. Minimum of 10-year Warranty for all furniture is mandatory, with a five year warranty on all lifting columns and a one year warranty on remaining electrical components. OEM accessories shall default to the terms of the original manufacturer s warranty. Products shall be tested in accordance with all applicable CA State, ANSI and BIFMA standards including (but not limited to) CA Section and BIFMA X (Desk/Table Products). Products must demonstrate compliance. US Manufacturing As this is a municipal-based project, preference will be given to goods manufactured in the United States. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 15
