ERTMS vehicle statistics Roadmap implementation Vojtech EKSLER 15 June 2017

Context Administrative arrangement on the Cooperation in Rail Transport Statistics between EUAR and Eurostat signed by both sides on Roadmap for the collection and dissemination of ETCS vehicle, ETCS infrastructure and PRM stations statistical data via Eurobase developed and finalized by both parties end March Status of the implementation of the Roadmap as of June 2017 Prospects for similar data availability Slide 2

Statistical data on infrastructure equipped with ERTMS/ETCS Infrastructure characteristics reported by the Member States to the Register of Infrastructure maintained by the Agency. Length of tracks/lines equipped with ERTMS/ETCS - refers to aggregated statistics available in the RINF. For each section of railway line, a parameter is available for the description of the ETCS type (level 1-3). The aggregation is done for all levels of ETCS. Main tasks Achieved by Production of the metadata file End March 2017 Pilot data End June 2017 Query environment available End 2018 First pilot dataset download and analysis End 2018 Production data available for dissemination Beginning 2019 Slide 3

Statistical data on vehicles equipped with ERTMS/ETCS National Vehicle Registers (NVR) and European Register of Authorised Types of Vehicles (ERATV) in place since The two registers will be ultimately replaced by the European Vehicle Register (EVR) that according to the IOD shall be operational by 16 June Number of vehicles equipped with ERTMS/ETCS - refers to aggregated statistics available in the two registers above. The ETCS parameter is only available in the ERATV for each vehicle type, whereas the ECVVR contains statistics on the number of vehicles per each type. The statistics are compiled by matching the vehicle type ID characteristics. In practice, the values of the ERTMS/ETCS parameters in the ERATV are often missing, it is not possible to produce any reliable statistics and major effort would be required to compete those. The EVR to have a ERTMS parameter for each vehicle (Commission Decision under preparation), with data available in Slide 4

Statistical data on PRM railway stations PRM accessible stations Accessibility to persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility (PRM) refers to the accessibility to all public areas of stations dedicated to the transport of passengers that are controlled by the railway undertaking, infrastructure manager or station manager. Characteristics of the stations - refers to aggregated characteristics available in the PRM Inventory of Assets maintained by the EC. Main tasks Achieved by Production of the metadata file End March 2017 Start of data collection 2018 First pilot dataset download and analysis End 2018 Production data available for dissemination 2019 Slide 5
