4 Product Support Management Use Logistics Product Data to Reduce Cost & Achieve Performance Objectives Define Approved Product Support The Support Solution Baseline comprises all Logistic Product information that describes the equipment your organization manages and how it is supported. It combines both vendor and corporate data, describing how it breaks, how to fix it, and how it is supported. OmegaPS efficiently organizes logistics data within the Support Baseline as it is defined, developed, staged and managed in-service. During acquisition, Logistics Product Data is created, and is used to generate the Equipment Support Plan that includes performance characteristics (RAM), maintenance program, illustrated parts catalogues, sparing/inventory levels, and other support requirements. Improve Equipment Support Performance The full vendor/oem product data is not always required by an end-user organization as part of their corporate support baseline. 5 Equipment Support Decisions: OmegaPS Analyzer Support and Use Models Equipment Selection and In-Service Support Optimization Two of the most desired equipment objectives are to reduce support costs, and to increase availability. OmegaPS Analyzer enables this analysis based upon DND developed algorithms across several integrated modules: Life Cycle Cost, Level of Repair, Sparing, and Availability modelling: Make support decisions based upon proven data algorithms Provides the basis to assess different equipment to determine the least through-life cost option Minimize spare part inventory Determine the most cost effective in-service support option and supply chain strategy Conduct sensitivity analysis when data confidence is low to minimize risk Assess equipment in multi-use scenarios Generate custom cost breakdown structures Life Cycle Cost (LCC) Optimization Analyzer LCC is designed to determine the LCC for an equipment, or an equipment system. It has an exhaustive list of cost variables, including R&D, Acquisition, In-Service, and Disposal. Particular emphasis is placed on equipment during in-service, and the algorithm includes spare part requirements calculated in the sparing module. Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) Assessment Analyzer LORA determines the most cost-effective maintenance policy for an equipment. LORA examines cost variables such as labour, training, contractor repair, transportation, inventory, and documentation. After making a repair versus discard assessment, Analyzer LORA selects the optimal locations for the repair of the defective unit. Spares Optimization Analyzer Sparing is designed to determine the optimal allocation of spares within a defined maintenance and support organization to meet an operational objective: usually the highest availability at the least cost. Multi-use scenarios and options are readily assessed. Availability Modelling Extends support solution design and assessment into an in-depth assessment of system operational availability. Design Availability Target Model (DATM) allocates RAM requirements to sub-systems and enables assessment of possible solutions. Through Life Availability Simulation (TLAS) generates missions to analyze the probability that target availability will be achieved.
