16 Sino - Dutch Living Lab on ICT & Logistics Thematical focus on two Sino-Dutch supply chain challenges Multi-modal transport: synchromodality E-commerce, customs & trade compliance Regional focus of the supply chain challenges in/ with China Shanghai Chongqing

17 Sino - Dutch International Supply Chain Challenges Theme 1: Multimodal transport - Synchromodality The flow of goods between China and the Netherlands are diverse and follow several trade lanes and modes: sea, rail and air transport using different seaport, airports and rail-hubs and a variety of logistics operators Need for a better understanding of the characteristics of effective and adaptive supply chains between the Netherlands and China is a first requirement for success

18 European Gateway Services - Synchromodal EGS offers high frequent rail and barge connections between Rotterdam and an integrated and rapidly expanding network of inland terminals in the European hinterland. How to synchronize multimodal transport from deepsea port to the hinterland? The starting point for EGS is always the synchromodal organisation of hinterland transport. For each trip, the modal choice (rail, barge, feeder, truck) is based upon the most efficient and sustainable solution. Shorter lead times, reliable transport, carbon reduction

19 Sino - Dutch International Supply Chain Challenges Theme 2: E-commerce, customs & trade compliance To successfully sell to consumers in Europe and China, e-commerce companies in both parts of the world need to ensure that their business models, strategies and online platforms match the particular market in both regions A better understanding of the key localization factors in cross-border e-commerce for Chinese and Dutch e-commerce companies can help to (further) boost e-commerce-based trade between both regions
