3 Label Requirement This document summarizes Charming Shoppes carton labeling requirement. 1. All EDI vendors are required to apply GS1-128 (Formerly UCC/EAN-128) labels to all cartons shipped for Charming Shoppes purchase orders. This includes shipments delivered to 3PL location, Air Forwarder, Port, or Charming Shoppes distribution center. 2. In accordance with GS1 US, Charming Shoppes label requirements follow standard GS1/EAN SSCC-18 common label formats. Detailed information about the SSCC-18 data structure and associated GS1/EAN-128 symbol can be found online at 3. The label must be 4 x 6 (105mm x 148mm) conforming to GS1standards 4. Cartons should only contain one unique GS1-128 label. All additional 20-digit internal barcodes on the carton must be marked out or covered as this is in conflict with the barcode on the GS1-128 shipping label. 5. If shipping UPS or LTL carrier do not combine GS1-128 label with the carrier shipping label, the Charming Shoppes GS1-128 label must be affixed to the cartons in addition to any label used by the carrier 6. A label would be identified as missing or un-scannable if: GS1-128 label is missing Does not scan at all Scans incorrectly More/less than 20 digits Includes invalid characters (presence of symbols or alpha characters) Barcodes is duplicate Photocopy of label taped to carton, as it will not scan correctly The print quality is poor and will cause the label not to scan correctly Partially missing Barcode and human readable are different Barcode is too big or too small Tape over label (even clear tape) 7. Bar codes shown are examples only they are not scan-able. 8. Must place all Label requirement information on the first label with the exception of utilizing a second label due to exceeding the maximum space. 3 of 10

4 9. To help the receiving process at the DC, vendors are required to label one carton of each MSN per PO with a sticker containing the words Tail Load. A MSN is considered a unique style/color/size/pack configuration combination. The MSN number is on the UCC128 label as shown below. (Note: a P.O. may contain more than one MSN). Failure to comply with this requirement will result in a chargeback to the vendor. These Tail Load cartons must be loaded as follows: a) For full truck load: at the rear of each fully loaded trailer or b) For LTL shipments delivered to Ascena s consolidator: on the top tier of the last pallet loaded onto the delivery truck, or at the rear of the delivery truck if the goods are to be delivered floor loaded. **The sticker must be red and no smaller than 1 X 4. Placement should be as follows: wrapped around an upper corner of the tail load carton. 4 of 10

This code is expected to match what the vendor will send in the EDI ASN (856) transaction in MAN segment where MAN01 = GM How Charming Shoppes uses the carton labels The carton label numbers (SSCC UCC/EAN-128)) are used in conjunction with EDI Advance Ship Notice transactions (ASN - 856). With the advent of Internet enabled communication some companies are using other methods to communicate the same kind of information. Regardless of the method used to communicate the number, the guidelines only deal with the SSCC as the link between the shipping carton and the data file containing the information about that specific carton. Since, historically this is referred to as the ASN, we will continue to do so. 8 of 10

9 The 856 ASN is an electronic shipping manifest containing detailed shipping information such as purchase order number, total number of cartons, carton SSCC (UCC/EAN 128), contents of each carton tied to specific line items on a specific purchase order, carrier that accepted the shipment, shipment date, etc. The electronic file (ASN 856) must arrive before the shipment arrives. The customer holds the file in a Pending Status waiting for the physical shipment to arrive. When the shipment arrives, scanning only the SSCC on the cartons allows the recipient (3PL, Air Forwarder, or Charming Shoppes DC s) to determine the contents of the carton and linked to the vendor data. Label Placement Application and Visibility: - Place one UCC128 label on the narrow side of the carton in the bottom right hand corner. - If the carton height is less than 6 high, continue to place lower portion the UCC128 label on the narrow side of the carton in the bottom right hand corner and fold the remaining upper portion of the label on the top of the carton. When applicable the fold in the UCC128 label should occur between: zone D (carrier information) and zone E (customer information). 9 of 10
