3 Checkweigher ECONUS Trendy state of the art technology for your weighing processes ECONUS is the newest and youngest member of the Sartorius checkweigher family. It is especially designed for applications such as completeness checks or control of filling systems. Furthermore its high accuracy, user friendliness and reliability in measuring weight jumps to eye as well as the efficient elimination of over and underweight products. Today s demands on a checkweigher are high and diverse. They reach from precise measuring at high speeds to reliability and ease of cleaning. The ECONUS is a trailblazer in its category. Due to its highly accurate weighing performance, a user-friendly control menu system, its easy setup and its optimization through integrated learning mode the ECONUS sets a new standard. By its stainless steel design and a quick and easy opening of the tensioning belt mechanism a simple, quick and thorough cleaning is guaranteed. The profile of the ECONUS is rounded off by a brilliant and easy readable LCD color and graphic display and sophisticated features, such as a trendcontroller, the completeness check with a moving average or a program-controlled belt speed with optimized settings for each product. Taking into account the high reliability and impressive weighing performance, the ECONUS offers an excellent priceperformance ratio. All this together makes the ECONUS an ideal module for every production line.

4 Reliability The ECONUS convinces the customers by using high quality materials and latest technology features as well as by its attractive price. It is the ideal entry-level solution for many process lines. Configurable The ECONUS can be configured to your individual requirements. Due to its small size and weight, it can easily be integrated into your product line. Cleanability The structure of the weighing and transportation system allows easy maintenance and cleaning. With a quick-releasebelt-device that is easily accessible, belt changing can be accomplished without the slightest effort. This allows an optimized cleanability according to the IP54 standard (Option IP65) and therefore maximum hygiene. Filling Process Optimisation Visual and audible alarms clearly indicate weight deviations. This allows the operator to take corrective actions immediately. Furthermore, detailed statistics of the production process are continously generated. A special feature of the ECONUS is the trendcontrol which enables an optimisation of the filling process. Connectivity The ECONUS offers various data interface functionalities including remote control via ethernet.

5 Design of Checkweigher The Checkweigher series ECONUS includes the following sub-units: Weigher frame Control cabinet with electronic control system Load cell Transport system Rejection device or sorting output (Option) Protective cover Control cabinet Stainless steel control cabinet with electronic control system, housing with IP 54 protection (Option: IP65). Inside are also the evaluation electronic, the power supply incl. motor control. For optical control a signal light is installed on the top (Option). Protective covers providing security for operators and reducing external influences. Load cell High-precision Sartorius load cell High stability Short response time IP 67 protection Weigher frame Easy to clean open structure stainless steel frame carrying the weighing and conveying system. An adjustable feet allows precise transport weight adjustment.

6 Electronic control system The master switch, control and display elements are installed for good accessibility. The high-contrast, easily legible colour graphics display shows all the vital production data without interruption. Self-explanatory display dialogues, five context-dependent function keys (soft keys) and an alphanumeric keypad with ABC input enable quick and easy operation. A user-programmable hot key (joker key) makes it possible to directly access user-defined functions. Automatic zeroing takes place during production intervals. The product distance can be continuously monitored in the background (option). All weighing parameters can get optimised for each product with an easy to use Learn Mode to get the best weighing results possible for all products. Reject and sorting devices (Option) An air blower or pusher can be mounted on the outfeed discharge belt to reject false weight products. The choice of reject sorting mechanisms depends on the product, the throughput rate and the particular application. Transport system The conveyor consists of anodised aluminium sections with a quick-release belt de-tensioning mechanism. Belt pulleys and drive rollers are made of hard coated aluminium, d 30 mm. The quick-release belt mechanism and removable transport systems make it easy to replace belts and or the whole transport system. The infeed, weighing and outfeed belts are driven by maintenance-free and precisely balanced 24V EC geared motors, propelled by driving belts.
