DESCRIPTION OF TESTS 3.1 Test Schedule The packaged-product was subjected to the Atmospheric Pre-Conditioning, 1 st Sequence Shock Test, Random Vibration with Dynamic Load Over the Road Trailer Simulation, Random Vibration without Load - Pick-up and Delivery Vehicle Simulation and 2 nd Sequence Shock Test as reference to ISTA Test Procedure 3A under Standard Packaged-Product Category. 3.2 Atmospheric Pre-Conditioning The packaged-product was preconditioned to climate conditioning at Laboratory Ambient Temperature for 12 hours before test start st Sequence Shock Test The purpose of this test is to determine the ability of the packaged-product to withstand the hazards occurring during manual handling such as loading, unloading, stacking, sorting, or palletizing. The packaged-product was subjected to 9 free fall impacts at a drop height based on the chart below in the following sequence: Drop Sequence Orientation Specific Face, Edge or Corner Drop Height Edge mm Corner Edge mm Face mm *Please refer to Appendix I for Identification of Faces, Edges and Corners. 4 3.4 Random Vibration with Dynamic Load - Over-The-Road Trailer Simulation The packaged-product was subjected to Random Vibration sequence of ISTA 3A Over-The-Road Trailer Spectrum. The face 3 of the packaged-product received 60 minutes for Random Vibration input. The faces 4 and 6 each received 30 minutes for Random Vibration input. Total test duration was 2 hours. Restraining devices were applied around the packaged-product to prevent it from falling off the vibration table. 5 The test conditions for Random Vibration with Dynamic Load - Over-The-Road Trailer Simulation are as follows: Frequency (Hz) Vibration Profile Power Spectrum Density (g²/hz) Overall Acceleration Level: 0.53 Grms Test Duration: 60 minutes each on face 3 30 minutes each on faces 4 and 6 Total Test Duration was 2 hours *Please refer to Appendix II for Random Vibration with Dynamic Load - Over-The-Road Trailer Simulation Graph. 6 3.5 Random Vibration without Load - Pick-up and Delivery Vehicle Simulation The packaged-product was subjected to 30 minutes for Pick-up and Delivery Random Vibration Input on Face 3. Restraining devices were applied around the packaged-product to prevent it from falling off the vibration table. The test conditions for Random Vibration - Pick-up and Delivery Simulation are as follows: Frequency (Hz) Vibration Profile Power Spectrum Density (g²/hz) Overall Acceleration Level: 0.46 Grms Test Duration: 30 minutes on face 3 *Please refer to Appendix II for Random Vibration without Load - Pick-up and Delivery Vehicle Simulation. 7 3.6 2 nd Sequence Shock Test The purpose of this test is to determine the ability of the packaged-product to withstand the hazards occurring during manual handling such as loading, unloading, stacking, sorting, or palletizing. 8 4. TEST RESULTS 4.1 Initial Verification Inspection was only performed on the externally of the packaged-product before test start. Crease marks were observed externally on the packaged-product before test start. Crease marks observed 4.2 Atmospheric Pre-Conditioning No abnormality was observed externally on the packaged-product after completion of Atmospheric Pre-Conditioning. 4.3 First Sequence Shock Test Crease marks observed on the external packaging of the packaged-product after all corner and edge drops. 9 4.4 Random Vibration with Dynamic Load - Over-The-Road Trailer Simulation No abnormality was observed externally on the packaged-product after completion of Random Vibration with Dynamic Load - Over-The-Road Trailer Simulation. 4.5 Random Vibration without Load - Pick-up and Delivery Vehicle Simulation No abnormality was observed externally on the packaged-product after completion of Random Vibration without Load - Pick-up and Delivery Vehicle Simulation 4.6 Second Sequence Shock Test Crease marks observed on the external packaging of the packaged-product after all corner, edge and hazard drops. 12 5. CONCLUSION All tests were carried out in accordance with client s specification ISTA Test Procedure 3A under Standard Packaged-Product Category. Inspection was only performed on the externally of the packaged-product before test start. Crease marks were observed externally on the packaged-product before test start. Crease marks observed on the external packaging of the packaged-product after all corner and edge drops after completion of First Sequence Shock Test. Crease marks observed on the external packaging of the packaged-product after all corner and edge and hazard drops after completion of Second Sequence Shock Test. No abnormality was observed externally on the packaged-product after completion of Random Vibration with Dynamic Load - Over-The-Road Trailer Simulation and Random Vibration without Load - Pick-up and Delivery Vehicle Simulation. The packaged-product was opened and inspected after completion of all test. Overall Rating: PASS Pass/fail criteria = After sequential completion of all required tests, there shall be no damage to the package box and the product(s) contained within the package box. Each of the following cases constitutes "damage" as below Pass/fail criteria Puncture of package box greater than 9 square inches or 10% of the damaged box surface. Failure of the tape or seal. Any part(s) escape the package box. Any damage (even the slightest scratch, chip, dent, or marking) to the actual product.
