Big Data analysis, the new trend in EU

Big Data analysis, the new trend in EU We (EU) may have lost the fight of infrastructure, but what about the analysis? Big opportunities here. Big data is nothing complicated: is an extension of what we had in the past. We talk about Volume, Variety and Velocity. Now companies can easily apply to capture and analyse vast amounts of data the data to help to make decisions in a cost-effective manner. We talk about the Datafication of the world: a digital copy of the real world (GPSs, Digital Cameras, Social Networks, Sensors, Intelligent Devices...) Big Data vs Big Data Analytics: We talk about analysing data, not only collecting data We must extract value from the data Taking decisions: collecting the right data (small data, big data, a combination of both)

Big Data analysis, the new trend in EU How can we use the big data? Identify and analyse our organization s strategic priorities Which questions must we address in order answer our strategic questions? It is not only a technology challenge, it is a strategic challenge Defining the Key Analytics Questions: Which data sets provide an answer to them 90% of the data of our organizations is never used to inform any decision making Make sure all the data we collect is correct and meaningful

Big Data analysis, the new trend in EU Mobility, transport and logistics: Multimodal transportation is one of the most complex and rewarding Big Data settings in the logistics sector. In addition to sensor data from infrastructure, vast amounts of mobility and social data are generated by smart phones, C2x technology (communication among and between vehicles) and end users with location-based services and maps. Big Data will open up opportunities for innovative ways of monitoring, controlling and managing logistics business processes. Deliveries could be adapted based on predictive monitoring, using data from stores, semantic product memories, internet forums, and weather forecasts, leading to both economic and environmental savings

Data analysis experiences Data visualization and communication is a massive problem: We techies like graphics, tables... We usually fail to translate the inside into an easy to read message What the newspapers do: They don t give us al the raw material, but translate it into a headlines that tell us what s happening A good template for reports of big data: headline, plus the information that helps us to express the story (OK, we can add graphs here...) The big problem: How to communicate data How to put it all together How to translate the data into a story to get the inside How to package this inside into a message that the audience understand

Data analysis experiences Vehicles R&D&I for the development of solutions in: Domotics Gardens Inmotics Buildings and Industries Houses Infrastractures Smart Infrastructures Energy efficiency Monitoring Communication Reasoning Score Board

Data analysis experiences WSN (Wireless Sensor Networks) Ad- hoc communica9ons (MANET, VANET) Smartmetering / Smartgrids delay tolerant network IPv6 / 6lowPAN IoT (Internet of Things) Industrial buses connection (gateways) Smartcities Communication protocols design routing

Data analysis experiences Systems integration monitoring Control systems Sensor networks Computer vision Communication systems

Routing for efficient and secure logistics

Routing for efficient and secure logistics Routing Maps An advanced technology application that allows the optimization of fleets and routes. It calculates optimized routes for each and all of the vehicles in the fleet, satisfying the defined constraints (characteristics and number of vehicles, time, kilometers ) and optimizing the proposed objectives (deliveries, visits, cost minimization ) Some of the considered constraints Number of available vehicles Different capacity and cargo for each vehicle Maximum route length per vehicle Maximum driving time per vehicle in the route Associated costs (fixed and variable), usage priorities... Accessibility constraints per vehicle...

Routing for efficient and secure logistics Innova&on A market leader in optimization tools integrated with mapping technologies (Google Maps) Flexible optimization of different and varied logistics problems: - Multi trip - Heterogeneus fleet - Time Windows - Capabilities - Good Types - Fixed and Relative driving breaks MultiObjective Optimizing: On time delivery Commitment Cost (energy, CO2, time, ) No technology background required

Routing for efficient and secure logistics Impacts & References Sustainable logistics by reducing the time and distance traveled by vehicles. Less vehicles employed to deliver the same goods Less time needed to routing design No expertise/area knowledge required Accurate information to make decisions Advanced information to customers
