The installation and use of the gauge must guarantee not only its own safety but that of people and buildings; the purchaser/user is responsible for this safety and must proceed as above specified. Operating limits and conditions Compatibility with the fluid, maximum pressure and maximum temperature permitted, must be evaluated/discussed with the Manufacturer in advance. Operating limits and maximum conditions are detailed in each product s data sheet which can be viewed on our website. In case of doubts, please call our technical service. 3.1 USE OF THE TOOL While it is the responsibility of the user to verify that the fluid contained in the tank or container is compatible with materials used for the construction of the equipment, for any doubt or further explanation please contact the manufacturer. The equipment must be used exclusively for displaying the level reached by fluid in a tank or container in which the pressure and temperature do not exceed the limits set by the manufacturer and hereby mentioned:

3/8 Max Pressure: max: 5 barg (Max. pressure also function of the length and the temperature) Max Temperature: 120 C TUBI PIREX BOROSILICATO Fig. 2 4,0 Spessore (mm) 2,5 Diametro esterno = 16 mm Pressione di esercizio (bar) Lunghezza (mm) Pressione di esercizio raccomandata in funzione del diametro esterno, dello spessore e della lunghezza dei tubi. The level reached by the fluid inside a container or tank, either open-air or closed and in which the pressure above the fluid surface is equal to or greater than atmospheric pressure, is indicated by the height of the fluid in the gauge. The user can request that the manufacturer add a visual indicator (for example graduated scales) in order to improve the interpretation of the indications of the level gauge. The product is NOT suitable for use in the following instances: if it is likely to be exposed to vibrations (glass tube will break) if the installation is situated by a walkway (possibility of blows/impact) if exposed to steam (shortens glass tube l 3.2 Improper Use Improper use is any use which is different from that expressly intended and in particular its utilisation in the following conditions: different use from the one expressely mentioned in this IOM failure to respect or use contrary to current safety regulations; failure to respect the limitations set by the manufacturer, particularly with regard to the maximum temperatures and pressures permissible; incorrect mounting and installation of the equipment; failure to purification waters (such failure could cause the erosion of glasses); incorrect installation after maintenance work; Total or partial non-observance of the prescribed maintenance;

4/8 modifications or interventions on the equipment which have not been previously discussed with and authorised by the manufacturer; use of replacemant parts either not from or of a type not recommended by the manufacturer; partial or total non observance of the instructions; use of the equipment by untrained personnel; exceptional events such as earthquakes, floods, wilful or accidental blows and other actions that could have caused not immediately perceptible damage to the equipment; maintenance activity with parts under pressure; 4. HANDLING It is recommended to take all cautions in order to avoid glass tube and connections devices damages. 5. ASSEMBLING AND DISASSEMBLING CRITERIA OF THE EQUIPMENT Two people with technical experience in carrying out maintenance operations must be used for assembling and disassembling the equipment. The operators must wear suitable personal protective gear during the activities and must take all the necessary precautions to prevent accidents. 5.1 Assembling the equipment with glass tube a) Insert the glass tube 1 in the stuffing box gasket that are placed in the cut off cocks 3 and lightly fasten the press-gasket caps 2 Note: lubricate outside the glass tube extremity to facilitate the gasket clutch. b) Align the protection (when foreseen) 4 placed on the same axis of the stuffing box calotte 2 and fix the protection with the supplied screw, c) place the connections of the cut off cocks on the same axis of the process connections. Fasten the screws with a torque sufficient to guarantee a safe connection but without weakening the material, d) Place the protection (when foreseen), turning it on its vertical axis, in the angular position more suitable to the visibility e) Tighten the press-gasket caps 2

5/ DIESSE 1 Vetro boro silicato Borosilicate glass 4 Protezione in acciaio inox Stainless steel protection DS 3 DIESSE 5.2 Dismounting a) Shut down and empty the installation. b) Wait until the temperature of the equipment reaches one that will not harm the operators (room temperature) c) Disconnect the process connections and remove the indicator d) Make sure that the equipment is restarted only after the security operating conditions have been reinstated. 6 MAINTENANCE No special maintenance operations are required apart from regular cleaning of the glass tube so that the fluid level can be easily seen. 7 SPARE PARTS The recommended spare parts are defined in the catalogue.

6/8 It is recommended to contact the Manufacturer if interventions need to be made to restore the normal operating and safety conditions. If the customer wants to use their own personnel and means to carry out any extraordinary maintenance operations like replacing the glass and/or the gaskets of the taps, is it VERY IMPORTANT that they contact the Manufacturer requesting the operating instructions for the necessary replacements and spare parts. 8 DISPOSAL To dispose of the component parts of the apparatus, observe the current related laws.
