8 The flexibility of the material It is used in the automotive industry, materials handling, machine construction and also in supply engineering steel as a material is as flexible as the different industries using steel products. However, sophisticated processes are needed to prepare steel in such a way that it can be used by our customers reliably for their specific applications. Our key competence is processing with sophisticated processes in order to manufacture workpieces of the highest quality for you. Thermal cutting, forming and joining with us you have an extensive portfolio of different manufacturing methods available to you. We cut in a thickness range of 1.5 to 300 millimetres and in working areas of up to 5,500 x 25,000 millimetres as well as unit weights of up to 20 tons. Whether you need simple geometries or highly complex components based on drawings, you can rely on our many years of experience and competence in the areas of thermal cutting with oxyacetylene, plasma and laser cutting. 8

9 High availability close to you Our specialised locations and the size of the KNAUF INTERFER warehouses guarantee our customers high availabilities with short paths. We deliver just in time even for high-volume orders so that you always have the right product at the right place. We integrate our products seamlessly into your procurement process and company, also including additional logistics services right up to consignment warehousing. 9

10 The steel distribution business unit comprises the warehousing and distribution of steel products and also includes numerous special products. Processing close to the product, such as sawing, oxyacetylene cutting, plasma and laser cutting, creates highprecision work pieces. Custom-made surface variations and high-precision products from a single source. Our steel service centres combine the local strengths and expertise in processing and logistics of five equally traditional as well as innovative plants in one business unit. In the cold rolling business unit we bundle decades of experience in producing high-quality cold-rolled and surface refined steel strips. In very modern plants, we manufacture cold-rolled strips in the thinnest dimensions and widths of up to 1,040 millimetres with the tightest tolerances. We support our customers throughout the process as a supplier of systems for demanding profiles and prefabricated parts that are made from extruded aluminium alloys. We develop individual and innovative solutions together with our customers in a professional dialogue about the utilised material and the required product. 10
