2 VERSATILE PARTNER IN MARITIME SECTOR Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS) is an international education and research centre. We offer further education, research services and conferences in the maritime field, logistics and other related fields We offer high-quality university level further education, which is mainly aimed at working people. We arrange a number of international conferences each year. These events are directed for national and international experts and they provide up-to-date information on topical issues. Annually we carry out dozens of research and consulting projects both nationally and internationally. CMS was founded in 1980 and was made a special unit of the University of Turku in Today we employ around forty experts. CMS Specialist in the field of maritime industry and associated sectors.

3 EDUCATION FOR MARITIME PROFESSIONALS We offer university-level further education in the maritime field and other related fields. The education is mainly aimed at people already in working life. The clientele of our includes private persons, logistic and maritime companies as well as public authorities. Courses We arrange courses in various themes in maritime field, logistics and other related fields. Our short courses are normally 1 3 days long. Apprenticeship Education We offer different apprenticeship type of education programmes in the maritime field. We have arranged programmes i.e. in port operations, cargo security, marine import and export and maritime logistics and the environment. Custom-tailored education Continuing education courses and different personnel training programmes can also be tailored to suit the particular needs of a client. 4 RESEARCH FOR IMPROVING BUSINESS AND SUPPORT FOR DECISION-MAKING CMS is an international research centre. In addition to theoretical scientific research, we offer diverse research and consulting services in the fields of maritime industries and logistics for public and private sector organisations. Annually we carry out dozens of research and consulting projects both nationally and internationally. Our main objective is to provide high quality services that are carried out according to the precise needs of the client. The results produced are always presented in such a way that the client can make use of them in the most efficient manner.
