12 Troop Support - Medical Materiel Pharmaceutical Reverse Distribution First, the Reverse Distribution (RD) contractor removes the expired pharmaceutical items from the Military Treatment Facility (MTF), returns them to the RD warehouse, and sorts them by manufacturer Last, the Prime Vendor issues a credit to the MTF s credit account to be used for future pharmaceutical purchases Return to the manufacturer for controlled destruction (credit or no credit) Each pharmaceutical manufacturer s policy determines disposition Non-returnable: Controlled destruction by RD through a high temperature incinerator Reverse Distribution contractor maintains the contractual fee for their service (between 5% and 9.5% depending on type of material and CONUS/OCONUS location). Balance (90.5% - 95% of ARV credit) forwarded to MTF s Prime Vendor For creditable product, Manufacturer reimburses the RD the Actual Return Value (ARV) of the returned product Medical Supply ChainPOC is Vince Valinotti (DSN 444)
