CERUTTI NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN PACKAGING PRINTING AND CONVERTING ERA PACKAGING CONFERENCE NOV 2011 GRAZ AUSTRIA

MORE LESS FOR FLEXIBILITY AND COMPATIBILITY TO GIVE A TAILOR-MADE PRESS TO OUR CUSTOMERS AT COMPETITIVE PRICES THANKS TO COMMON PLATFORM TO INCREASE THE CRITICAL MASS AND TO REDUCE COSTS AUTOMATION AND LEAN PRODUCTION TO REDUCE ASSEMBLY AND DELIVERY TIMES

WHY? MARKETS ARE BECOMING MORE AND MORE UNPREDICTABLE AND VOLATILE DECISIONS, QUITE OFTEN, ARE TAKEN WITH VERY SHORT NOTICE WE HAVE TO SUPPORT OUR CUSTOMERS WITH THE BEST SOLUTION IN THE SHORTEST POSSIBLE TIME THE SUCCESS OF OUR CUSTOMERS IS OUR SUCCESS

COMMON PLATFORM TO INCREASE THE CRITICAL MASS AND TO REDUCE COSTS Taking as an example the largest manufacturers of the automotive field, we now develop our products on a That means : COMMON PLATFORM 70% of the finished product is made of common components 30% of the finished product is developed according to our Customers needs

AUTOMATION AND LEAN PRODUCTION TO REDUCE ASSEMBLY AND DELIVERY TIMES Our Goal: Having the most agile supply chain in the industry by joining our efforts to reduce lead time Our result: In less than 1 year we HALVED our lead time switching from a PUSH SYSTEM: Make all we can just in case we need it to a PULL SYSTEM: Make what we need when we need it

FLEXIBILITY AND COMPATIBILITY TO GIVE A TAILOR-MADE PRESS TO OUR CUSTOMERS SAME CUSTOMER SAME PRODUCT or RANGE OF PRODUCTS but DIFFERENT PRINTING CENTRES WORLDWIDE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS DIFFERENT INKS AND SOLVENTS DIFFERENT WORKING CONDITION DIFFERENT OPERATORS SKILL

WHAT DOES IT MEAN? The same technical solution is not always feasible or applicable We have to adapt our products to our Customer s needs in order to allow them to print a top-quality product, while reducing their costs. The whole without changing or affecting the heart of our presses: web tension control doctor blade group ventilation electronics

A typical example of our flexibility is our 980 series, covering all needs:

R 981 With printing cylinder with bearings and bearing housings or with air chuck (sleeve cylinder) With standard inking system or with idle inking roller at 6 o clock position Possibility of replacing the sleeves of the impression rollers on the printing units not being used in production

R With air chuck or with special bearings, built in the unit side frames (new design) With idle inking roller at 6 o clock position or with driven inking roller at 4 o clock position

R 982 New easy-handling trolley, carrying printing cylinder and inking system Possibility of selecting the most cost/time effective change-over procedure, according to the specific working conditions, for each printing station: a) Change-over of both inking system and printing cylinder, or b) Change-over of the printing cylinder only, or c) Change-over of the inking system only, leaving the printing cylinder.

R 982 Ink tank on board or Ink tank off board, operator side Possibility to wash the trolley in a washing machine Rinsing system of the printing cylinder Press production speed up to 500 m/min

R 983 Specifically designed and sized to print paper and cardboard up to 300 g/m 2 Production speed up to 400 m/min with printing and converting operations Equipped with 0-speed butt splicers Pre-printing featuring preconditioning + web cleaning + decurling to prepare material for printing After-printing gives the Customer the possibility to rewind or sheet or die cut the printed product
