4 affiliation Centre of competence for logistics is a virtual unit of the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing: - est. 1967, - interdiciplinary, state-owned research centre (enterprise logistics, supply chain management, warehousing and inventory management, transportation, e-business/e-logistics, development of the GS1 identification and communication standards in Poland, testing of electric and electronic devices), - source of content and staff for Poznan School of Logistics and Centre for Logistics Education, employees.

13 details of selected activities Polish Centre of Competence in Logistics FP main objective: to support the development of intermodal transport infrastructure that will conform to the criteria of interoperability within as well as across modes and will help to transform New Member States into accomplished members of efficient Trans- European Transport Networks.

14 details of selected activities European Network of Logistics Competence Centres (Stuttgart, RER, Carinthia, Wielkopolska) InterregIIIC aim: to develop a long term joint strategy based on an analysis of existing plans, solutions, gaps in the participating regions and to implement the ENLoCC Cooperation Framework for regional logistics competence centres (LoCCs) and their European Network includes 2 pilots (LOGPLAT and LOGTRAIN)

15 details of selected activities Central European Network for Logistics Competence (Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland) FP aim: is to promote dissemination and exploitation of the results of RTD projects of the 5th and 6th Framework Programs among the enterprises, business support organisations and research units operating in the Central-European logistics and transport sector one conference and two practical workshops

16 details of selected activities Research network devoted to logistics centres, intermodal transport and inteligent transport systems (Szczecin University, Gdańsk University, Warsaw School of Economics, Poznań School of Logistics, Katowice Academy of Economics, Poznań Academy of Economics, Maritime Institute, Road Transport Institute, Rail Vehicle Institute, TU Berlin and still growing!) co-funded from national sources aims: effective utilization of the Partners research potential, creating joint research programs, improving the state of the art of macro-logistics. thematic areas: designing and developing logistics centres, development of multimodal transport solutions and intelligent transport systems supported by e-logistics

17 REGLO details of selected activities Regional Centre for Transfer of Logistics Innovation European Social Fund aims: improving the level of logistics innovation in SME s in Wielkopolska Province, improving transfer of knowledge to SME s and promoting innovative attitudes among entrepreneurs consulting services in the area of logistics and 8 workshops (thematically linked)

18 conclusions 1 - centre of competence No single multi-purpose, applicable-to-all model Multi-stakeholder, collaborative solutions most effective Clear definition of the sector Flexible in choice of activities

19 conclusions 2 - networking an excellent tool for expansion easy to finance hard to keep the momentum and maintain interest long way from network to community not a lot of value in Pan-European cooperation (other than exchange of experience and starting EU projects )
