Sattlethight Manager, Statistical Programs Summary of Aluminum Producer Net Shipments 1 April 2018 Aluminum net shipments (including exports) by domestic U.S. and Canadian facilities totaled an estimated 2,053 million pounds during April, up 4.3 percent over the April 2017 total of 1,969 million pounds. Shipments of aluminum mill products increased 5.8 percent over the previous year to 1,411 million pounds, while shipments of aluminum ingot for castings, exports and destructive uses advanced 1.0 percent year-over-year, totaling 642 million pounds. Through the first four months of the year, preliminary producer shipments totaled an estimated 8,250 million pounds, an increase of 2.7 percent over the 2017 year-to-date total. April inventory levels totaled an estimated 3,213 million pounds, up 1.8 percent over the previous month and an increase of 10.1 percent yearover-year. The Association expands these data to total industry utilizing expansion ratio that attempts to reflect the relationship of reporters to the total industry. While the Association believes that its statistical procedures and methods are reliable, it does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of the data. 7 The Aluminum Association, founded in 1933, represents U.S. and foreign-based primary producers of aluminum, as well as recyclers, and producers of semi-fabricated products, foundries, distributors and suppliers.
