2 /// BDT Tornado Technologies The BDT Tornado Technology, inspired by nature, uses a novel recirculating airflow generator to simplify media handling. This revolutionary solution replaces complex, expensive and energy wasting compressors or vacuum pumps while enabling levels of media control not possible with other technologies. The BDT Tornado Module consists of a motor and a specially designed rotating impeller that creates a whirlwind. This whirlwind leads to a low pressure zone beneath the impeller. Any object placed within this zone experiences an attractive force that can be used to lift and control the object. Combining the attractive force from the impeller with integrated transport belts, we have developed a new module that can be used for handling the widest range of media possible in the industry, including paper, cardboard, plastics and synthetics. Utilizing these modules within systems allows us to develop all types of media handling solutions, including feeders, transport and alignment systems, and stackers. Different formats and various weights can be handled thanks to the modular design of Tornado Module. In addition, BDT has developed the novel Tornado Sideblower Module. This device also uses a vortex to generate a turbulent airstream that can be used to seperate media before feeding them. It replaces the laminar airflow of traditional air knives, resulting in far more reliable media separation. The Tornado Sideblower modules effectively deal with separation of problematic synthetics and media stacks with high moisture content or high static load, dramatically reducing mis-picks and double-feeds.
