3 Locations The first North American Service & Parts Focus Day is hosted by ISLA s member, Navistar, Inc. (International Truck and Engine Corporation), a leading manufacturer of trucks, buses and engines. The location will be Navistar s new World Headquarters, located in Lisle, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The spacious Navistar campus is home to 3,500 staff and provides a great place for Focus Day participants to meet, share and network during informative presentations, interactive Q & A sessions and breaks. During the afternoon on Focus Day, Navistar will provide insight into their operations and processes at the company s new Midwest Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in Joliet, a forty-minute drive from Lisle (bus transportation will be provided). Navistar celebrated the grand opening of their new distribution center in June of this year. With 860,000 square feet, the Midwest PDC is the largest of 13 Navistar PDCs worldwide and stocks more than 85,000 parts. It represents the next generation of PDCs, custom-designed from the ground up to support best practices in distribution. Representing a lot of new thinking, the Midwest PDC serves as a model for the evolution of other Navistar Parts Distribution Centers in the future. It was constructed with flexibility in mind to enable future growth and innovation. Its design emphasizes lean principles, which focus on simplifying everday practices throughout the workplace, to maximize value while minimizing waste in the form of money, resources and time. The company will take the processes learned there and begin implementing them elsewhere. The warehouse tour of Navistar s Midwest PDC is a unique opportunity to experience cutting-edge spare parts operations in real life. With the relocation of the company s distribution operations from the former facility to the new one in Joliet, order cycle time has been reduced from 20 hours down to 11 hours. Navistar, Inc.
