1 OPEN BOER GOAT SHOW (American Boer Goat Association Sanctioned) Entry Deadline January 25 Entry Fee $20.00 Earliest Arrival :00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7 Check- in :00 p.m Friday March 8-10:00 a.m. Saturday March 9 Judging :00 p.m.., Saturday, March 9 Release of Open Breeding Goats :00 a.m., Sunday, March 10 OPEN SHOW BREEDING GOAT GENERAL RULES 1. All entries in this division shall be subject to the General Rules and Regulations of the Show. Please refer to for all rules and entry information. 2. Entry fee of $20.00 per animal must accompany entry Summary Sheet and Entry Certification Form. Extra stalls for tack will be $20.00 each, however due to limited space, stalling of animals will be given preference over tack stalls. 3. Entry deadline is January 25, late entries will be accepted until February 12. Late entries postmarked after February 13 and entries that are hand delivered to the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show office after February 12 must pay a $30 per head late entry fee in addition to the $20 per head entry fee, if stall space is available. If stall space is unavailable then Management reserves the right to return late entry. 4. Open show substitution deadline is March 1. All open show substitutions received after this date will be charged a $10.00 substitution fee per entry. 5. Entries must be in the name of the registered owner. Animals must be registered in the Herdbook of their Association in the name of the owner(s) by January 31. Superintendents will check original registration certificates at time of check in. Recognized Associations include American Boer Goat Association. 6. Exhibitors must be in the third grade or nine years old as of January 1, Due to safety precautions, no one under the age of nine, or not yet in the third grade, will be allowed in the show ring at any time. 7. Age of animals shall be computed from the open show check in date of March 8, Birth dates as listed on the registration certificate will be used to determine class entries. If open show check in date is the same day of the month as the registration date then the animal will be classed in next older age group. 8. Stalls will be assigned on the basis of number of entries made by an exhibitor, two animals per stall. If at Show, an exhibitor has fewer animals than entered, the Management reserves the right to assign any extra stalls to another exhibitor. No refund of entry or stall fees will be made. 9. Grooming and trimming tables will be allowed in designated areas at the Show. 10. Goats must have a legible ear identification number; tattoo or other means of permanent identification that matches the ones on its registration certificate. If the animal has a microchip as its permanent identification, the exhibitor is responsible for providing a microchip reader.

2 11. Fitting will be left up to the discretion of the exhibitor. No artificial coloring will be allowed and may be cause of disqualification. 12. Any female over 24 months of age, that has not kidded, may be cause for that entry to be disqualified. 13. Goats will be classified by weight and tooth age. 5 OPEN COMMERCIAL BOER DOES 1. If there are any questions by classifiers then the Doe will be moved to the next older Does Class. All classifier decisions are final for the Show. 2. Commercial Does entered in the Jr. Commercial Boer Doe Show are eligible to be shown in the Jr. and Open RGVLS Breeding Goat Show, however Commercial Does are not eligible to be shown in the RGVLS Market Goat Show 3. Classifying of Commercial Boer Does will start at 2:00 p.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8 in the designated area by the Goat committee for Jr. and Open Breeding Goat Exhibits. 4. All Open commercial does entering the RGVLS show grounds will be examined and sifted bye the Open Boer Goat Show Committee. Any sifted entry will be asked to be removed from the Show grounds immediately. 5. If greater than 10 entries are in the class, the class will be divided to its own separate class (with own premium and will be brought out to show for Grand/Reserve) and will be divided by the show committee.
