2 What is GoBus? Door-to-door, shared ride accessible public transportation. Parallel with Metrobus Mandate: To provide persons with disabilities and those who cannot access Metrobus equal access to a transportation system so as to enhance their participation in all aspects of community life. Contract provided by MVT Canadian Bus, Inc.

3 Boundaries GoBus Accessible Transit provides transportation within the municipalities of St. John s and Mount Pearl only.

4 Hours of Operation GoBus operates 365 days per year! Monday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday 7am Midnight 7am 2am 8am 2am 8am Midnight 24-hour service is available to individuals arriving or departing St. John s International Airport, upon request.

5 Eligibility All GoBus customers must first apply and be deemed eligible through a self-identified application process. Individuals who are eligible are those who, because of a disability, are unable with dignity to: 1. Board, ride or disembark from a Metrobus because the system is not fully accessible 2. Use Metrobus due to a visual, cognitive or mental health disabilities or other disability 3. Reach boarding locations, ride and disembark from the vehicles even if they are fully accessible

7 3 Types of Eligibility 1. Permanent 2. Seasonal - Will not have to provide any further eligibility information following initial application. - User may access GoBus from Nov 1- March 31 due to winter weather conditions due to specific mobility issues or temperature sensitivities. 3. Temporary - A user who meets the full eligibility criteria on a temporary basis. (i.e. Broken leg or medical condition that will resolve over time.) - A visitor to the City of St. John s or City of Mount Pearl.

Student ID is required. Attendants may travel with a user at no cost.

10 Types of Service Pre-booked Permanent Ride For individuals going to regular medical treatments, places of employment, school or scheduled recreational activities. Single Trip Request For individuals who wish to book single or return trips with at least 24 hours advance notice. Same Day or Demand Basis Trips For individuals requesting trips with less than 24-hours notice. These trips must be negotiated between the passenger and dispatcher. Same day trips will be scheduled only if a bus is available.

12 Using GoBus GoBus Accessible Transit is a shared ride public transit system. At times, more than one passenger will be travelling on the same bus. All passengers must: Be prepared for arrival of bus 15 minutes before or after the scheduled time Leave ample time for arriving at your destination Remain on the bus as other passengers are picked up and/or dropped off

13 Customers must: Using GoBus Be respectful with scents and personal hygiene Let us know if you are bringing a pet Keep the path from your house to the bus clear and adequate for whatever mobility device you are using Wear seatbelts Not smoke or consume alcohol

14 Late-Cancels & No-Shows A late-cancel happens when a person fails to give at least 90 minutes notice to cancel a trip. A no-show happens when GoBus arrives for a scheduled pick-up, waits the required 5 minutes, but the passenger is not there. Customers are charged for late-cancels and no-shows.

15 Drivers will: Driver Assistance assist all passengers to and from a GoBus to their destination point, unless otherwise specified assist passengers to open or lock main residence doors, upon request remain in clear view of their bus at all times

16 Driver Assistance Drivers will not: clear snow or other obstacles that are between a person s home and the bus assist with numerous carry-on articles, such as groceries administer medications; run errands; assist with personal items (like clothing)

17 Complaints / Issues If you have a complaint or issue regarding GoBus: Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Speak with our dispatchers about the issue. If the issue cannot be resolved through dispatch, contact the Accessible Transit Office. If the issue is still not resolved to your satisfaction, put your statement in writing and it will be presented to the Para-Transit Working Group, or a subcommittee thereof for review. The decision of the Working Group will be final.
