Long Term Vision Empower Scientific and Operational capabilities Integrated vehicle operations Water Air Space Facilitate Sensor exchange Strategic Collaborations 2

REP 18 Overview Goals UH to Participate in REP 18 Strengthen collaboration between UH and LSTS Plan future joint exercises Dates Preparation: Sep. LSTS, Porto REP exercises: Sep. Sesimbra 3

Baseline Plan 1. Strengthen the collaboration between UH and LSTS. Familiarization with REP 2. Participate in the operations, logistics and related activities for the REP 18 exercises in Sesimbra. 3. Produce oceanographic data products from data collected during REP18 ( fast data products ). 4. Integration of the LSTS toolchain with DJI M100 UAV. Logistics (travel, flying authorization) 5. Discuss participation of LSTS with MANTAS exercises. 4

REP 18 - Technological Goals Persistent operations with multiple vehicles with applications in security, defense, and science; Simplified launch and recovery procedures for underwater, surface, and air vehicles to minimize logistic support; Distributed ocean space center for remote situational awareness and tasking of heterogeneous vehicles; Vehicles with multi-domain (air-surface) capabilities for sampling and communications networking; MIDAR capability demonstrations; Coordinated ASV/UAV operations with vision based landing; Coupling remote sensing and field operations; Integrated data management for situational awareness distributed ocean space center. 5

REP 18 - Scientific Goals UAS-based sea surface temperature and ocean color measurements; Sampling internal waves; Coastal fronts/lagrangian structures. 6

REP 18 - Security/Defense Goals Characterization of side-scan and magnetometer performance; Multi-vehicle cooperative mine warfare. 7

Traveling Internationally with UAS Pre-travel checklist Transport drone on carry-on, if possible Drone insurance Drone serial number Drone FAA registration number Remote pilot s license Drone purchase receipt Request Authorization from Portuguese Navy Request Authorization from AAN Travel Justification Document Batteries Maximum of 2 batteries / person Max 160 Whr Can t check in batteries Discharge batteries to < 50% (otherwise install on drone) Carry batteries in fire resistant bags Radio Frequencies Must use 433 Mhz for TT&C (instead 915 MHz). Change radios. 2.4 Ghz ISM ok 15

Drone Rules in Portugal Autoridade Aeronáutica Nacional (AAN) - Air Force (equivalent to FAA) Autoridade Nacional da Aviação Civil (ANAC) - Civil Authority New rules starting Jan 2017, updated Summer 2018 Can t fly above 120 meters (400 ft) Vehicle registration >250 g Must have insurance >900 g Multimedia requires authorization from AAN 16
