Simplicity from start to finish With a step-by-step print process you have complete control over what can be printed. Production staff simply select what needs to be printed. 1 select customer From a list of retailers and/or supermarkets that you supply 2 select category For example the type of fruit based on the product lines that have been made active 3 select product line Quickly choose the correct product or for longer lists search with our new product search feature 4 select label to print Where only approved labels that have been setup can be chosen 5 select date for delivery All dates on the label will be calculated instantly no matter what type or format 6 select variable data Such as the variety of the product, its origin, size or whatever needs to be printed 7 select printer Choose what line or printer to send the print job to and the quantity of labels to print 8 preview and print See an accurate preview and check all data is correct before sending the print job Concentrate on packing products Ever spent too long looking for a label only to find it wasn t the right version? You re not the only one. Printing labels normally involves searching through files and folders for the correct version of the label to print, which is both time consuming and prone to error. DataGuard 3 stops all the guesswork as only labels that have been approved for a given product line can be used.

Calculate all dates in a single-click DataGuard 3 removes all of the risks with manually typing dates with an automated process that calculates all dates on the label no matter what format they are in. select delivery date to customers depot all dates on label calculated pack dates dates in barcodes harvest dates best before display until use by Say goodbye to spreadsheets for checking what is the correct date code In recent years formatting dates on labels has become increasingly complex. Supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda use custom fonts with Sainsburys in particular using an irregular format where the month changes between three and four characters. Aldi, Lidl and Netto use compound week number and day codes as well as basing their year on the ISO week date calendar and not the normal Gregorian calendar. Iceland and several wholesalers use Julian dates. Many retailers also like to print not only display until and best before dates, but also pack dates and harvest dates. Even barcodes contain dates! With such complexity it is little wonder that printing the correct date and the correct date format often leads to mistakes. With the built-in date formatting language, DataGuard 3 can produce any possible date format no matter how complex, all while maintaining full automation. SAINSBURYS TESCO 27/04/15 ALDI ICELAND 0403 (0405C) 150 ASDA GS1-128 BARCODES 28 JUN PAULEYS SAINSBURYS H SATURDAY Control what dates can be selected Being able to automate dates is only useful if you can control which dates can be picked in the first place. Otherwise production staff could select any date from two weeks ago, to a year in the future. DataGuard 3 has several controls for setting limits on what dates can be used both globally and for individual product lines.

The right controls at the right time DataGuard 3 helps production staff pick the right label stock and make printer-specific adjustments without access to the label template. Print preview with stock image and colour codes DataGuard shows production staff an accurate preview of the print job including the what information is going to be printed and an image of the label stock to use (see below for examples). This is especially useful when supermarkets use colour coded labels to indicate various details such as: depot delivery day (Sainsburys); whether a product is chilled or frozen (Co-operative); washed or unwashed (Asda); indicate different lines (Tesco). Colour codes are automated which means there is only a single template required. PACK LABELS SAINSBURYS TESCO SHAPED LABELS ASDA ALDI CO-OPERATIVE WAITROSE All images are screenshots taken from DataGuard 3 print preview Safely ensure print quality DataGuard 3 has unique print time controls built into the preview that allows production staff to safely adjust the print head temperature, print speed, print position (margins) and even flip the print direction 180 degrees without accessing either the underlying label template or printer driver.

Works with on-line printers and coders With the transition to on-line printing, we have ensured DataGuard allows you to manage all your labelling requirements without any extra software. Print job names for on-line coders With on-line printing, each print job is selected from the touch screen control unit on the production line. DataGuard 3 allows production staff to give each print job a unique name so they can easily identify the correct print job on the control unit. print preview in dataguard select print job on-line markem-imaje smartdate x40 Compatible with ICE Zodiac and Markem-Imaje SmartDate on-line coders DataGuard is compatible with both Markem-Imaje and ICE on-line coders no matter whether it is 53 mm or 107 mm, continuous or intermittent, single-lane or twin-lane. Simply connect the printers to your existing LAN network and if you have more than one line, the same print job can be re-sent immediately without having to re-select the product or variable data. Production staff no longer have to transfer label templates using a USB memory stick, nor do they have to enter any variable data. After sending the complete print job from DataGuard they simply select the print job from the job list on the control unit. And as each print job can be uniquely titled, it is possible to queue print jobs for a day s work all in one go. ice zodiac

Total control over printed content We extended our philosophy for printing labels to managing product data with a custom-built database that makes it easy to manage what production staff can print. Manage your products, not your database DataGuard 3 uses a custom-built database for managing everything from product data, product origin information, product varieties, supplier codes, sizes and so on. The database makes use of forms that makes managing records much easier and less prone to errors as the source tables (where all the data is kept) do not need to edited. Forms also allow us to do smart things like use drop down selection boxes for repetitive data, so that managers can quickly select what they need and not worry about the spelling. Automatic filters for your data While being able to access all product data makes sense from a management point of view, it makes little sense from a production point of view. DataGuard 3 solves this by automatically filtering the product data, so that when production staff are printing, they see the filtered data and not everything. What s more is we can customise the filtering to suit your business. For example if you have a variety that can only be used for a single retailer, it can be filtered so that only products for that retailer can use it. Product lines can be turned on and off Variety can be filtered by retailer and type of fruit UK growers can separated from Import growers Sizes can be filtered by type of fruit/vegetable in the database Clever data choices DataGuard 3 is smart and groups variables with shared content so that production staff only have to select a variable once. For example instead of typing the country of origin, county and supplier codes all separately, in DataGuard only the grower is chosen from a list.

You re in good hands Our team has over 40 years combined experience creating successful label systems for fresh produce companies from individual pack houses to marketing firms, importers and wholesalers. Pricing DataGuard 3 is a package of three programs: Vector 6, DataGuard 3 and Microsoft Access. The cost of your system will depend on the scale of the system (essentially how many PCs) and the type of license required. The minimum license for Vector 6 is a single-user professional which is best suited to smaller businesses that use a single PC for labelling. For larger business it is more cost effective to purchase a five-user network license that allows up to five concurrent users, with Vector 6 installed on an unlimited number of PCs. Technical requirements DataGuard has been successfully deployed on a range of hardware from PCs and laptops to terminal servers, virtual machines and small business servers. Hardware requirements are minimal, but if you do have any particular considerations we are happy to discuss. System setup We provide full setup and installation of your system including installation of the software, database and printer setup. The time it takes to transition to a new system can often be overlooked as it takes a lot of mental effort to learn new software and what it is capable of. When we install we provide a skeleton system with only a few templates, so that your staff learn how to design label templates and manage product data. This takes the pressure off staff to get up to speed immediately and allows DataGuard to be phased in. Support and training We provide technical support via telephone and remote desktop as well as on-site call outs. Newly installed systems have free technical support for the first 90 days. After 90 days a software support contract can be purchased with different levels of cover to match your needs. Training is provided to managers on installation and additional sessions can be arranged at any time for managers or production staff. Training can be provided either on site, remotely over the Internet or at our offices. Call to arrange a demo To see the benefits of DataGuard give us a call on to arrange a demonstration.
