9 Rail Baltica in Europe: recent developments June 2010: Ministers of transport signed declaration on rail freight corridors. Declaration was signed by ministers of Belgium, Chech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland. Rail Baltica section Warsaw- become the part of the corridor Nr. 8 Bremenhafen/Rotterdam Warsaw- ; June 2010: Ministries responsible for transport of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland in Saragosa signed MoU on the TEN-T Priority Project No 27 Rail Baltica. The resolution of the Government of Lithuania Nr. 541 from concerning the implementation of Rail Baltica project is the annex to the Memorandum. October 2010: EC Mid Term Review of the TEN-T Multi Annual work programme acknowledged Rail Baltica axis Warsaw-- Riga-Tallinn- Helsinki to remain as a TEN-T Priority project. Implementation time prolonged until the year 2015.

10 Rail Baltica in Lithuania: recent developments December 2009: Lithuanian Government adopted resolution No on Plan of urgent actions necessary to execute for implementation of Rail Baltica project. May 2010: The aforementioned resolution was amended and complemented with additional actions. April 2010 m: Lithuanian Government adopted resolution No. 371 on Rail Baltica Baltica homologation as important economic project. October 11, Lithuanian Parliament adopted resolution No. XI-1612 on Rail Baltica recognition as project of particular national importance.

11 Plan on urgent actions to implement Rail Baltica project: PLC Value of project: 90 mill. Lt; PLC part I: Karmėlava Two territories with planned standard gauge access - connected to Rail Baltica; Estimated start of functioning: PLC part 2: Palemonas

12 Rail Baltica : remaining challenges Results of AECOM study: new line means new territorial planning procedures, land acquisition, additional legislative actions; Financing: coordinated action of countries concerned (i.e. PL, LT. LV, EE) in ; To employ Rail Baltica axis for serving much higher cargo and passenger flows. Poland: Warsaw LT border: speed of trains and concrete action towards Rail Baltica implementation in financial perspective.
