12 Conveying technology The appropriate conveying system meeting your individual requirements. Your requirements to your plant are utmost process reliability, maximum economic efficiency, and the assurance of an appropriate bulk solids quality to allow conveying. We at Zeppelin are used to offer to our customers the highest possible profit and to advise you accordingly just from the beginning. Generally two types of conveying systems are available for use in the bulk solids production, logistics terminals, or charging processing machines of which one type is selected in accordance with the customer s data. Pneumatic conveying (dense phase or dilute phase conveying): gas respectively air is used for conveying of the product. Hydraulic conveying: water is used for conveying of the product. The selection of the conveying system or the combination of conveying processes which is most suitable for your application depends on a lot of different criteria. Among others the characteristics of your bulk solids (as for example the grain size and wear resistance), the plant parameters (e. g. conveying distances), the design of the complete plant (e. g. whether independent silos farms are planned) as well as the investment costs and operating expenses have to be taken into consideration. Combinations of conveying systems e. g. dilute phase conveying for long distances followed by separation and the gentle dense phase conveying are also possible. 12
