Clothing: For Load In s and Load Outs, comfortable work clothes that are appropriate for the venue and weather should be worn. Please refrain from wearing clothing that is inappropriate in the work place. Work boots or other sturdy shoes are required. Open toed shoes, sandals, moccasins, or heals are not allowed. If you arrive wearing them, you would be required to change them. For any Show Call, show blacks are required. Black or very dark pants and shirts with no logos (or logos that can be covered with black gaff tape), black socks and dark shoes are required. If the show call is for an outdoor concert, shorts may be worn.

4 Safety: Safety is your responsibility. Stagehand work is often chaotic, fast paced, and loud. You must be aware of your surroundings at all times. If you see an unsafe situation, let the steward know immediately. If you are unsure of your skills, you have the right to say you do not feel comfortable with a task, but this cannot be an excuse not to work. If you are injured while on a job, you MUST notify the steward on call immediately. Workers comp forms will be provided. If more than 24 hours passes between an injury and notification to the local, it might not qualify as a worker s comp claim. Alcohol/Drugs: Use of alcohol or illegal drugs while on a call is strictly forbidden and will result in removal from a call. If you are on prescribed medication that could cause a safety concern, it is up to you to let the steward and/or Business Agent know you are unable to safely work. Tools/ Equipment: Permit Worker/ Apprentice stagehands should arrive for any call with the following MINIMUM of tools and equipment at any call: Gloves Crescent wrench Flashlight Pocket knife/ multi tool Writing implements and a small note pad Hard Hat (bring to every call, needed during active rigging) The following tools are recommended for full time stagehands, or those working decorator or calls that might require tools: 10 in 1 screw driver or straight edge and phillips screw driver. Cordless drill, extra batteries, and assorted bits Pliers (channel locks, needle nose, side cutters, wire strippers)

5 Cell Phone usage: Cell Phones should not be noticed during a call. Please keep phones on silent, or turned off during a call. Personal business can be attended to during breaks. If a situation requires you to take a call, please discuss with steward before the call begins. TAKING OF PICTURES ANYWHERE BACKSTAGE WHILE ON OR OFF A CALL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Social Media: Please be very mindful of what is posted on personal social media accounts. IATSE Local 346 strives to be professional and negative statements made by members or permit workers can put that professional reputation in jeopardy. Any pictures or comments found to be detrimental to the services provided by IATSE Local 346 will be asked to be removed immediately. Repeated problems with social media postings could result in removal from the call list. Free Tickets or other Gratuities: Employers hire stagehands to provide a service and you are paid for that service. Please do not ever ask for any additional gratuity, service, or ticket from an employer while on a call. Not only does this look bad on our part, it can put an employer or their representative in an awkward situation. If the employer or their representative offers a gratuity of any sort, please check with the steward to verify that no conflict occurs. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH AN ARTIST AT ANY TIME UNLESS GIVEN SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS TO DO SO BY SHOW PERSONNEL. Parking: Parking at most venues is on a first come, first served basis. Parking in the front circle of the Opera House is never allowed. Parking in the Millward s lot is at the discretion of Millward Funeral Home. Please call them to verify availability before parking there. Be aware that while there is plenty of parking at Rupp Arena for publicly ticketed events, payment for parking may be required. Please remember that allowing for enough time to park and arrive at a call on time is your responsibility and limited parking is not a good excuse for arriving late.

6 Backstage Passes: These are your credentials needed to work backstage. These cannot be traded, sold, given away, etc. If it has been found that you have given someone else your pass, you will be removed from the call. You must show your pass anytime you are working and are asked by either security or show staff. Selling strike shirts and passes online after a call is considered unprofessional. On any show, working the load in or load out does not automatically give you a backstage pass or a free way in to see a show. Please wait in the designated/appropriate area until you are called to work. Payroll/ Paperwork: StageCall 346 handles payroll services from the employers who use Local 346. Pay periods are typically bi-weekly. Feel free to ask the steward when your check can be expected. If it is your first time working through IATSE Local 346 plan on filling out tax paperwork. Copies of legal identification will be required (drivers license, Social Security Card, State ID card, etc) If you have been paid through StageCall 346 before and changed address, phone number, or other vital information, please let the Business Agent or steward know as soon as possible. IATSE Local 346 acts as a hiring hall for employers and StageCall 346 is a payroll company. Please avoid filing for unemployment insurance through either one of them. It will get rejected since neither one of them are an employer. Opera House: On larger shows, please remain outside the back door on Saunier Street until called to enter the building. There is typically not much space backstage until the show is finished. Please note that trucks are unloaded via ramp to a dock, then pushed into the building. Dress accordingly for the weather, and be careful of slippery ramps. Rupp Arena: Please enter through the Security doors next to the loading docks. You may be required to sign in. Lockers are provided upstage for jackets, tools, and equipment. Please provide your own lock.
