3 IMOP Company Overview In April 2011, Metal One and Keiyo Blanking Kogyo Co., Ltd. joined forces to establish India Metal One Steel Plate Processing Private Ltd. (IMOP), the first site in India for the melt cutting and processing of steel plates. The joint venture held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new plant, located in the suburbs of Tada, Andhra Pradesh, in the Sri City Special Economic Zone (SEZ). IMOP is the third joint overseas base for plate processing that Metal One and Keiyo Blanking Kogyo have set up. IMOP supplies products such as melt-cut parts, secondary-processing items, and composite parts, primarily for Caterpillar Inc. and other construction machinery manufacturers. 4 IMOP Forklift & Combi Lift Operations Forklifts play a vital role in everyday business activities. It starts at 8.30am to round the clock of operations. Forklifts are used in various departments like Cutting, Welding, Machining, Bending, Gas Bowling, Rework, PDI and finally Dispatch. 9 Our Solution / Suggestion Working bay / area is small and narrow; Usage of power steering forklift with very minimum turning radius is advisable. Metal and Wooden pallets will help more on sorting and easy transport by Forklifts. Trained and experienced operators will help in avoiding any accident and quick operations. There are number of cantilever and semi cantilever cranes operating in the same area where forklifts are also operating inside the plant. Forklift operators are not able to properly identify which crane is currently operating and hence some minor accidents are always on the cards. Below is our suggestion in handling this issue in a better way. Probe light with alarm will help to know which crane is currently operating. It should work only when the remote is switched on. Forklifts should be provided with Front and Reverse horn, probe light and alarm.
