2 INTRODUCTION Saigon Premier Container Terminal SPCT, located along the western shore of the Soai Rap River on the 40 hectares Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park and 16km from Ho Chi Minh City center, is a state-of-the-art facility which began operations in October 2009, just two years after construction began in September Phase I of the development has 2 berths and storage capacity for up to 15,000 TEU (twenty foot equivalent container units) at a time, including 650 refrigerated container slots. The continued development of the infrastructure by government authorities includes dredging of the Soai Rap river to a depth of 9.5m by early 2011, allowing SPCT to serve vessels with a nominal capacity of up to 5,000 TEU. SPCT will then be able to serve both the intra-asia market and deep sea trades, further reducing logistical cost for Vietnamese exporters and importers. The project is an 80:20 joint venture between DP World (UAE) and the Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Company (IPC) Vietnamese state-owned company. It is anticipated that the SPCT development will prove to be a successful formula for additional container terminal developments between DP World and IPC in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Zone and reinforce the Hiep Phuoc area as the new urban and logistics hub for Ho Chi Minh City in line with the city government SEA strategy. ICD CONNECTION All major ICD s contracted to provide guaranteed space for containers in the Northern catchment areas connects with SPCT: Thu Duc ICDs : Sotrans, Tanamexco, Phuc Long, Transimex, Phuoc Long 3 Bien Hoa ICD New ICDs in Tan Thuan port and Dong Nai port in July 2010 add new opportunities to save costs to importers/exporters in their neighbor areas. 7 BARGE OPERATION CUSTOMS Extensive barge network through city SPCT has contracted 3 major barge operators to provide sufficient self propelled barge capacity to serve SPCT and northern catchment area. Connection for containers is well planned by NAVIS SPARCS N4 terminal operating system with real-time update information. Direct container transfer from barge to vessel via quay if required. Guaranteed berth priority and crane access at ICD s and SPCT. More barges can be mobilized. Special for Mekong Delta and Cambodia: Barges carry rice directly to SPCT for stuffing or to ICDs Barges with electric generators for reefer care from Can Tho port Transshipment barge from Cambodia via SPCT Giving best conditions to customers to SPCT, on 2nd June 2009, Customs Office for Hiep Phuoc IP was established. The new Customs Office was built inside the terminal with: Experienced customs officers have been transferred from Cat Lai, airport, ICDs, etc. Modern IT software integrated with SPCT allows e-customs the customs clearance procedure to be performed. Dedicated inspection area inside SPCT. Distances: Thu Duc ICDs: Bien Hoa: 32km, 4 hrs steaming to SPCT 50km, 5 hrs steaming to SPCT Customs clearance at SPCT is ever easy with: SPCT Customs Liaison Officers stays at site to assist customers. Customs system integrated with SPCT s makes the process smooth and very simple. Customs clearance can be performed either at Terminal or at SPCT contracted ICDs. 13

8 REEFER HANDLING SPCT Port has been specifically designed to handle large quantities of refrigerated loads. SPCT is the favored terminal for shipping reefer products, targeting the Mekong Delta catchment area and is located in the center of the cold store cluster. SPCT is located in the center of a growing cold store cluster with Lotte Sea Logistics (40,000sqm) and Anpha AG (20,000 sqm) operational in 4th quarter 2009 and other projects will be carried out soon including Swire Cold Storage (20,000sqm), Hung Vuong Corp. (40,000sqm). Together with SPCT and carriers, reefer shippers can enjoy preferred logistics solutions: Stuffing of refrigerated containers in designated yard area. Barges available with generator packs to move refrigerated loads between SPCT and Northern ICD s, and between SPCT - Can Tho ports deep in the Mekong Delta. Direct Delivery of inbound shipments straight to market. SPCT Port has been specifically designed to handle large quantities of refrigerated loads. 650 reefer plugs and back up power. 9 MEKONG DELTA FOCUS - RICE, REEFER Being the first container terminal closer to the Mekong Delta and neighbor provinces which are in rich cargo source for rice/seafood showing strong growth in recent years, SPCT is well designed to meet the service demands: Reefer modern rack system with 650 power plugs 24/7 monitored, reefer stuffing area. Neighbor cold stores and food processing in Long Hau IP, Hiep Phuoc IP, Binh Tan Dist, Binh Chanh Dist. Contracted barges with reefer plugs from Can Tho to SPCT. Support to rice with: ICD stuffing or SPCT stuffing Direct barge reception at SPCT SPCT IS IN THE LARGE POTENTIAL MARKET: Mekong Delta is a major catchment area for seafood, rice, fruits and other agricultural products. Expanding industrial parks in West, South and Mekong Delta provide growth for light industrial products. SPCT has satellite marketing office in Can Tho.
