3 1 INTRODUCTION There are several ways to load your product data to ECCnet Registry, Canada s national product registry. Tools to help you gather, cleanse, load, and manage data have been developed exclusively for ECCnet Registry users to facilitate product catalogue set-up and management. To begin loading your product data, select the data loading option that best suits your needs from the following options: 1. ECCnet ProSYNC Basic Small Business 2. ECCnet ProSYNC Online 3. ECCnet ProSYNC Advanced 4. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS) Third party solution providers will assist new or existing members and provide the resources required to load product data to ECCnet Registry; this is ideal for members who want to decrease the amount of time they dedicate to data loading. Third party solution provider options address GS1 Canada s committment to open access, whereby companies of any size, structure and level of technical sophistication can participate. ECCnet ProSYNC makes uploading data to ECCnet Registry possible without a significant investment in information technology and offers small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) quick access to ECCnet Registry. 4 2 DATA LOADING OPTIONS 2.1 ECCnet ProSYNC Basic Small Business ECCnet ProSYNC Basic Small Business is a simple and accessible browser-based service available to vendors with less than $5 million in Canadian annual revenue. This solution is suitable for up to 100 Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs), up to ten complex packaged goods, and infrequent update requirements. To load your data using ECCnet ProSYNC Basic Small Business, go to Features Up to 100 GTINs Up to ten complex packaged goods One user Daily updates Online registration Online validations of data field content Web-based templates, driven by subset/commodity with automatically updated applicable data fields Item/Case, Item/Inner and Pack/Case packaging configurations built-in Online first-time use wizards lead vendors through data entry, certification, and granting retailers access to their product data No hardware or software installation required Simple packaging configurations such as items, inners, and cases Requires Internet Explorer Version 5.5 (Service Pack 2). 5 2.2 ECCnet ProSYNC Online ECCnet ProSYNC Online Service is available to vendors of any size who need to load up to 250 GTINs and an unlimited number of complex packaged goods. It also provides advanced capabilities and multiuser functions. 6 2.3 ECCnet ProSYNC Advanced The ECCnet ProSYNC Advanced service provides more features than the other data loading options and offers vendors flexibility in how they maintain their data. Data can be maintained with easy-to-use browser-based data entry screens; alternatively, medium to large organizations who want to organize and maintain their data in-house can use a file interface (Data Import software Tool, or DIT) to send their product data directly to ECCnet Registry. ECCnet ProSYNC Advanced is ideal for medium to large vendors who want to organize and publish their product data to ECCnet Registry without a long term IT investment or system upgrade. Features Can carry up to 5,000 GTINs; additional GTINs may be added for an additional fee. Supports more complex packaging configurations, including Display Ready Pallets and Multi-packs Flexibility to allow integration with internal systems. 7 2.4 Electronic Data Interchance (EDI) Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS) This core interface of ECCnet Registry uses VICS , the industry-endorsed trading standard for master data alignment. Vendors can create their own implementation and GS1 Canada provides training, mapping and supporting documentation. This loading option is for companies already using EDI. October 2008 Page 7 of 10

8 2.5 ECCnet Registry Third Party Certified Solution Providers Third party solution providers will assist new or existing members and provide the resources required to load product data to ECCnet Registry, or members want to decrease the amount of time they dedicate to data loading.
