Environmental Policy Service personnel are advised that when changing any part of the Scodix S series Digital presses, care should be taken to dispose of those parts in the correct manner and, where applicable, they should be recycled. When the lifecycle of parts such as filters has been completed, the product should be disposed according to the laws and regulations of the local authority. 3 Safety Information IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE: The Scodix S series uses liquid polymer based called Scodix PolySENSE This liquid may cause eye irritation. This liquid may cause skin irritation after prolonged or repeated contact. Read and practice the safety guidelines as outlined in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Print out the MSDS for the PolySENSE, and post it in the work area as required by prevailing law. An excerpt of the MSDS is provided below: Personal Safety: The operator should wear rubber gloves, a protective apron and safety glasses with side shields when handling the PolySENSE. Handling liquid Spills on Surfaces: Observe the following precautions: Ventilate area. Contain spill. Cover with absorbent material. Collect spilled material. Clean up residue with Ethanol or Acetone. Place in a closed container. Do not release to waterways or sewer. Incinerate in a permitted hazardous waste incinerator. Handling Spills on a Person: Observe the following precautions: Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water. Get immediate medical attention. Skin contact: Flush skin with large amounts of water. If irritation persists, get medical attention. Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If there is no breathing, give artificial respiration and get immediate medical attention. If breathing is difficult, get immediate medical attention. If swallowed: Call a physician immediately. 4 About This Guide This guide is intended to assist with the preparation of a Scodix S press on site. NOTE: All mention of the Scodix S75 Press is equally applicable to the Scodix S52 Press, unless indicated otherwise. This document describes the site preparation requirements of the following presses and configurations: S74, S74 Pro, and Rainbow configurations S75, S75 Pro, and Rainbow configurations Scodix personnel or its representative will assist with the unpacking of the Scodix S press, help move it to its site, position the press, and perform the final installation. This guide contains the following chapters: Chapter 1 - Dimensions, page 6, describes the Scodix S series press Dimensions and Working Area. 12 Working Area Dimensions The Scodix S series press must be installed in an area large enough to enable its operation and service to be performed normally and comfortably. The minimum room size required for the press is 7.8 x 4.7 x 2.6 m (25.6 x 15.5 x 8.5 ft.) (W x L x H). The ceiling above the Scodix S series press should be at least 2.6 m (8.5 ft.) high. The minimum space required between presses installed in the same area is 1.40 m (4.6 ft.). Figure 8: Scodix S74 and S75 Working Area Dimensions (Top View) Floor The floor must meet the following requirements: Floor level: < 1% Floor vibration-free requirements during operation: Vrm s < 0.2 G; Vpk < 0.6 G. Floor covering material: The covering material must be a hard and smooth surface, such as tiles, flat epoxy or flat concrete without holes or bumps. Load The maximum weight of the Scodix S series press (with Feeder fully loaded): 3,205 kg (7,066 lbs) The maximum paper load permitted on the feeder / stacker: 300 kg (661 lbs) The maximum load per footpad for the Scodix S series press: 450 kg (981 lbs) 12 of 26 Chapter 1 Dimensions

The following initial requirements must be in place before installation. Before starting the installation process, the customer must verify the compliance and existence of each item in the table below, sign next to each row and then send this page to support@scodix.com. 14 Issue Description Notes Transformer If a Scodix S series press is installed where 400 VAC is not available, a 30 kva capacity transformer is required. Transformer output: 3-phase 400V + neutral + ground, 32 Amps. Refer to the Transformer section below. Compressed Air Buffer air tank Operations Environment Pressure: 7 bar +/-1 Flow: 10 CFM Note: The customer site's air system must have a UL certified over-pressure strain relief. Hose: High pressure air hose, with 10 mm outside diameter. Cleanliness: 20 micron element with an auto-drain Oil and water free, (drier is required). Pressurized Air Requirement: The Scodix S series press requires a continuous air supply (24x7). If the site cannot supply this while the press is shut-down, a buffer air tank must be installed before the Scodix press (not supplied by Scodix) see below. If compressed air is supplied from the customer s main compressor facility (that supplies all the machinery at that site), then we recommend installing a buffer air tank before the Scodix press. This will allow the main air supply to be shut off when the press is also shut off (for example on a weekend). The compressed air in the backup tank will enable the press to maintain the vacuum in the print heads for a short period of time (shut-down state, but not for printing). Temperature: 15 C to 30 C (59ºF to 86ºF) Humidity: 40% to 80% relative humidity, non- condensed Shutdown Conditions: 10 C to 35 C; 20% 80% relative humidity Customer to provide the air hose from the wall to the press. Customer to provide a buffer air tank. Network LAN: TCP/IP Cat. 5E Cable to be supplied by customer. Internet connection Fast (active) Ethernet connections, with open ports to access the Internet. 15 Press Electrical Connections Electrical installation must conform to local regulations. It is the customer s responsibility to have a qualified and licensed electrician on site to connect the main electrical power cable to the press and its peripherals. During preparation of the site, contact your Scodix representative to coordinate the preparations for electrical connections, and to coordinate the arrival of the electrician for the press installation. If the local regulatory standards require the use of an FI circuit breaker (Residual-current device (RCD), then use a 300 ma rated device. 16 Connecting the Scodix S series Press to the Main Power Supply NOTE: The press requires electrical isolation and lockout during service and maintenance procedures. Mount an isolator box and key on the wall near the press. The key must be accessible to the press operator. NOTE: The neutral line in this product is permanently connected to the power supply. It is not switched on or off. 18 Environment Press Storage Environment The following data assumes that the Scodix S press is stored in its original crate: Storage Environment Temperature Relative Humidity Description 5ºC to 35ºC (41ºF to 95ºF) 5% to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing The Scodix S series press should not be stored for longer than one month in an environment with a relative humidity greater than 60%. Make sure you have storage space for the following items: PolySENSE: The PolySENSE container should be stored under the following conditions: Store the PolySENSE in an environment below 35 C (95ºF). Avoid direct sunlight, UV radiation and strong oxidizers. Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Store in a place that is only accessible by authorized personnel. Keep out of reach of children. Only store PolySENSE in the original HDPE container. Never mix liquids from one container with that from another. Do not store near inert gas, such as nitrogen. Keep the container away from oxidizing materials, acids and bases. Spare Parts: Ensure that an appropriate location, in a controlled environment is available for spare parts, such as electronics boards, print heads and hardware. Paper (Printed Jobs): Protect paper from direct sunlight. In order to avoid moisture absorption, store the paper on shelves, pallets or in cabinets and not directly on the floor. Temperature and humidity are critical factors. A minimum temperature of 15 C (50 F) with 30% relative humidity should be maintained. A maximum temperature of 27.2 C (81 F) with 85% relative humidity should be maintained. Most environments with air conditioning systems provide the required mix of temperature and humidity. For optimal results, coated paper should be stored a minimum of 48 hours in standard conditions before production. 18 of 26 Chapter 2 Requirements

19 Working Environment The Scodix S press function normally in a typical controlled print shop environment. The area in which the Scodix S press is installed should be reasonably free of dust and other airborne particles. Dust and particles can affect the printing quality. The Scodix S press should not be installed near equipment that produces strong radio frequency interference. The Scodix S press should not be installed near equipment that produces strong mechanical impact. The air suction flow should be at least 700 CFM. Excessive vibrations generated by heavy machinery, such as shears or punchers, may affect print quality, and should not be located in the operating environment of the Scodix S series press. Illumination Conditions Do not install the Scodix S series press in an area exposed to direct sun light. Compressed Air Requirements The pressurized air used in the Scodix S press must be clean, dry and oil-free, and it must be delivered at the minimum pressure of 7 ± 1 bars (117.6 PSI). To ensure a moisture-free air supply, an air dryer must be installed on the air line. The Scodix S press is supplied with a pneumatic hose. It is the customer s responsibility to connect between the air compressor and the press. The compressed air hose that connects to the press has a 10 mm (0.03 ft.) connector. Note: If a dedicated air compressor is used for the Scodix press, then we recommend the following specifications: Air tank minimum capacity: 150 liters (39 gallons). Ventilation For correct ventilation of the Scodix S press site, six air-room cycles per hour are required. Heat emission reaches a maximum of eight kilowatts power during production. In case the site requires or Scodix recommends to add an additional air suction pipe above the press; customer to provide an air extractor, air suction flow should be 700 CFM above the press Chapter 2 - Requirements 19 of 26

20 Waste Disposal Dispose of the consumables and cleaning materials that you use in accordance with applicable regulations. Consult with your local authorities to determine the correct manner in which to dispose wastes, including the following wastes: Liquid from the printing heads cleaning station. Polymer should be disposed of as chemical waste according to local regulations. For more details, refer to the MSDS document for varnish material. Noise Level Maximum noise level generated by the press with the service doors closed is less than 70 dba.
