Acceptance Criteria CARB Phase II: HWPW Emission Standard 0.05 ppm CARB Phase II: MDF Emission Standard 0.11 ppm Facilities and Equipment: Instrumentation Used: Column Used: Agilent 1260 Series HPLC Poroshell 120 EC-C18, 3x100 mm, 2.7µm Test Summary: The emission testing was performed according to ASTM D6007 (2014) Standard Test Method for Determining Formaldehyde Concentrations in Air from Wood Products Using a Small-Scale Chamber. The sample was prepared by first measuring the width and determining a corresponding length to satisfy the appropriate loading factor specified in the method. Once cut to the desired size, the sample was adhered to an aluminum plate using aluminized tape allowing only the finished product surface was exposed. A photograph of the samples is included herein. After the required 7 day preconditioning period, the sample was placed in the air chamber for 20 hours. Air samples were collected prior to the sample being placed in the chamber (0 hours) and a duplicate measurement at 20 hours. Air samples were collected on cartridges treated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH). Collection was performed by passing 0.7 L/min of chamber air for a total of 30 L through the DNPH cartridge. Formaldehyde content was analyzed using high pressure liquid chromatography, HPLC.
