1 MACOMB COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ROADS TRAFFIC OPERATIONS CENTER To provide and maintain a reliable real-time traffic operations system, in coordination with county stakeholders, that enables a safe, efficient, and informative travel experience. PERFORMANCE MEASURES OCTOBER 2014 Percentage of intersections along major Macomb County corridors which have operational communications to the Traffic Operations Center SAFETY: SERVICE REQUESTS EFFICIENCY: F/C REVIEWS Number of completed service requests received by the Traffic Operations Center during the target month. 79% RELIABILITY: NETWORK INFORMATIVE: TOC HIGHLIGHTS Number of times the Traffic Operations Center staff reviewed an intersection based on a service request. Reviews occurred in the field (F) or at a console (C) through the network. The TOC has increased its efforts in responding to service requests of the motoring public. To that end, the TOC staff have achieved the goal of responding and closing service requests within 10 business days. This has made the number of active service requests at the end of each week drop from 62 at the beginning of the month to 12 by the end of the month. Instead of meeting every month with Macomb County Emergency Management, Sheriff Dispatch and Information Technology management, TOC management now meets with these critical stakeholders once every quarter. Also beginning in October, the TOC s monthly reporting to management regarding additional Traffic Engineering and IT/ITS Technical operations topics has been moved to quarterly meeting updates. In doing so, the TOC will be able to add a solely operations-focused quarterly meeting to report progress on moving operations forward. 2 Field/Console Reviews Completed TRAFFIC OPERATIONS Compilation of the general field/console review types completed by the Traffic Operations Engineers. Field/console reviews are assigned after a public/stakeholder concern warrants an investigation. Reviews are either conducted in the field or at an Operator console through a network connection. Service Requests By Intersection Motorists and public agencies contact the TOC to provide feedback on intersection functionality. This month, the intersection accruing the most feedback was Mound at 14 Mile. All callers stated a similar concern: Mound at 14 Mile was out of synchronization with its cross overs. TOC Engineers reviewed the site and updated the controller s timing.
