Success Stories:

Mattel In an effort to lower their logistics costs and to offer more competitive pricing along the US-Mexico border, Mattel implemented a distribution model based in the China-Laguna Beach-Mexico route establishing distribution centers in Tijuana, Ciudad Juarez and Nuevo Laredo. These distribution centers serviced the border market while taking advantage of the lower tax brackets in those areas and avoiding the shipment of these goods to their Estado de Mexico hub, where they would have had to be shipped back. Under this model, ONILOG worked with Mattel during 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 providing distribution services throughout the northeast border region. Based in Nuevo Laredo. The project consisted in having a distribution center that could handle fluctuating volumes, as demand required, where we received shipments, labeled and stored the product, consolidated micro-orders and performed 'milk-run' distribution. All these services allowed our customer to increase the efficiency in their logistics costs. The project met all of Mattel's expectations and achieved great success, however in 2009 their import model changed to use Lazaro Cardenas as their entry point to Mexico rendering the border distribution centers financially not feasible.

Mattel As mentioned before, the Nuevo Laredo distribution center covered the north-east border region, which included commercial centers in Matamoros, Reynosa, Rio Bravo, Valle Hermoso, Piedras Negras, Acuña and Nuevo Laredo. The highest volumes were reached during two main seasons, the Día del Niño holiday, from February to April, and Christmas, from July to November. The first part of each season had an emphasis in receiving merchandise, while the shipment was focused in April, for the first season, and October to November, for the second season. Toys Delivered Yearly The shipments were consolidated to be delivered in multiple stores so as to maximize the container capacity and minimize the shipping costs. We used multiple units for delivery, ranging from semi trucks to tortons. Reference: Lic. Mario Alberto Padilla Distribution Manager +52 (55) We made deliveries to the following retail stores: Coppel, Smart, HEB, Sanborns, Soriana, Gigante, Farmacias Benavides, Chedraui and Del Sol distributed in the cities mentioned before. This required a high level of control for both inventories and delivery processes.

Ternium Is a key provider of steel products to Rheem Industries, company that produces water heaters and air conditioning equipment. Given the importance of this service the decision to establish a distribution center in Nuevo Laredo was reached with the intention to shorten release schedules and response times. A bidding process was launched by TERNIUM at the beginning of the year looking to find the best partner to establish this critical service. Several logistics providers took part on this process where ONILOG was selected as the optimum solution, starting operations on June 15th of the current year. ONILOG proved it's worth immediately when, after signing the contract on June 1st, TERNIUM was faced with a requirement from it's client that shipments needed to be processed from the Nuevo Laredo center starting on June 15th. Working to meet our clients needs, ONILOG was able to establish a distribution center that could process 10,000 tons of steel a month with up to 20 daily shipments in only 15 days.

Ternium ONILOG is committed to be an ally for Ternium, maintaining a high level of performance on a daily basis. As such we have implemented a structure to receive volumes of more than 5,000 tons monthly, resulting in approximately 50 in-bound shipments per week. As part of this project we also provide JIT deliveries to Rheem, managing volumes of 1,200 to 1,500 tons and a maximum capacity of 75 outbound shipments per week.

Value added for Ternium As an efficient partner, ONILOG established a distribution center, renovating the warehouse with specific client requirements as: four indoor docks, humidity control system, specialty racks, CCTV system and a weighing scale (80 tons capacity). BEFORE AFTER RENOVATION

Value added for Ternium Also acquired equipment with specific characteristics required for the operation: flat-bed trailers with a carrying capacity of 35 tons.; GPS tracking systems; 33, 16 and 11 tons forklifts. From June 2012 to date, ONILOG has delivered more than 34,350 tons. of steel in approximately 1,145 outbound shipments.

Ternium From the beginning of the operation, ONILOG was able to fulfill expectations: ` Starting operations with 15 days advanced notice. Arrange special training in customer site (Ternium facility). Adopting the Ternium warehouse managing system. Managing Ternium quality system at the same time as ours. Implementing daily controls. Logistic logs (Unloading, loading, transportation schedules). GPS tracking system. CCTV remote access. IN/OUT facility surveillance 24/7. Weighing scale log. Implementing special material handling requirements. Reference: Ernesto Kullick Logistic Director +52 (81) ekullick@ternium.com.mx

SONY / Exel / DHL operation Sony operated under the same model as Mattel between 2006 and 2007 but at a lower scale. The peculiarity of this project is that ONILOG was subcontracted in 2006 by Exel/DHL, national master provider to SONY, to provide the service in the north-east region, however, in 2007, SONY de Mexico launched a bid at the national level where Kuehne+Nagel won, with the exception of the north-east region where SONY awarded it directly to ONILOG based on the excellent quality of service provided in This project was cancelled due to the same reasons as Mattel, where SONY moved the port of entry of their products to Lazaro Cardenas, making the border distribution centers non-feasible.
