Highway Equipment Company has been building New Leader crop nutrient applicators for more than 70 years. Our spreader designs give you wider and more accurate spread patterns with a variety of materials. By using heavy gauge steel and high end components, our quality shines through in every piece of equipment. Our state-of-the-art facility, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, utilizes the latest technology in the entire production process, from the initial design to the finished piece. 4 The L3030G4 is the ultimate high capacity fertilizer spreader with a 300 cu. ft. (8.5m 3 ) hopper able to hold up to 10 tons (9072kg) of product. Spread fertilizer at rates as low as 50 lbs/acre (56 kg/hectare) to as high as 1,100 lbs/acre (1232kg/hectare) and still maintain an accurate spread pattern up to 105 (32m). The conveyor drive system is constructed with a #5 straight belt with no conveyor chain or chain oiler to reduce maintenance time and costs. A 30 (76cm) 3-ply belt provides a smooth flow of product along with the strength and durability needed for high loads of fertilizer. 5 Ideal for fertilizer or ag lime, the L3220G4 features a 200 cu. ft. (5.6m3) capacity hopper, allowing operators to broadcast fertilizer from 75 lbs/acre (84 kg/hectare) up to 3 tons/acre (6.725 tonnes/hectare) of ag lime while consistently achieving spread patterns with swath widths from 60 (18m) to 105 (32m) with fertilizer and up to 60 (18m) with ag lime. A 30 (76cm) wide heavy-duty conveyor with a #4 belt-over-chain is designed to effectively spread materials and minimize bridging. An easy-to-access conveyor drive shaft and bearing make maintenance and tension adjustment simple. Both the L3030G4 and L3220G4 are designed to be MultApplier-ready so that the optional 304 stainless steel MultApplier insert can be added at a later time. Bolt-in endgates and quick connect couplings make converting from a single product to a dual product spreader easy! The dual hopper system features two independent conveyors that can simultaneously apply up to two products at predetermined rates or variable rate application with swath widths up to 84 (25m), decreasing time in the field, soil compaction and fuel consumption and increasing your return on asset. #4 Belt-Over-Chain Conveyor Patented G4 System The 30 (76cm) wide heavy-duty conveyor system (rated at 58,000 lb. (258,000n) tensile strength) is designed to apply both low rates of fertilizer and high rates of ag lime without carry-back. 6 New Leader and John Deere have designed equipment that will reduce idle time and generate revenue more days out of the year, providing more bottom line profits. John Deere sprayer systems also give you the capability of generating profits during three application seasons instead of one. How it works: Using a single power unit with two attachments, the power unit may be used over more seasons in the year, which leads to improved asset utilization. For example, asset utilization may be improved when equipping an applicator with liquid and dry capabilities, or extending the use season by applying lime. The 4940 sprayer is one machine with the ability to broadcast two applications (liquid or dry) in three seasons. When applying dry material, the L3220G4 is a combination fertilizer/lime spreader that may also be equipped with the removable MultApplier for two product application. The DN345 drawn dry box is a high output, large capacity spreader that uses the John Deere 8R series tractors for its source of power. It delivers a greater return on asset for customers who utilize John Deere tractors for other field operations including anhydrous ammonia, strip-till, and side dress applications. 7 New Leader Spread Pattern Kit The New Leader spread pattern test kit is an invaluable tool to determine effective spread widths. It's quick, easy and provides accurate spread pattern results. Spread pattern testing is an important step when applying product with a dry applicator. Pan tests should be performed to properly adjust the spread pattern. Spread patterns are affected by many factors including spinner speed, material size and weight, rate of delivery, spinner disk positioning, wind, humidity and several other factors. Trial and experience must be used to determine the adjustments that should be made to obtain optimal spread patterns. Step #1: Step #2: Step #3: Step #4: Step #5: Calibrate Machine - Make sure that the spinner RPM, fan position, gate opening, divider settings and blades are calibrated to the proper settings. Pan Test - Set the pans in the proper position in the field and broadcast product over the pans. Evaluate Results - Once you've collected the contents from the pans and captured them in the test tubes, record the data and analyze the test results. Make Necessary Adjustments - If the spread width is still not optimal, it may be necessary to make adjustments to the spinner, fan, gate or blade settings. Repeat Broadcast Run - After you've made any adjustments, broadcast product over the pans again and check these results. This is important as the size of the material effects the distance that a material can be spread, along with a relationship to how wind may affect the pattern. In addition, the product hardness also effects how much energy (spinner speed) can be applied to the product.
