Scale for small ingredients Product review Weights and mixes powders and granulates from a few grams to several kg. Made by stainless steel and FDA approved synthetic material. High weighing accuracy is not influenced by vibrations and temperature fluctuations. Very simple cleaning and maintenance. User-friendly control through weighing computer. Optional recipe changes. Possibility of printer connection for recipe prints. TEKFA s scale for small ingredients suits especially for bakeries and bread factories, but also for manufactures of detergent powders etc., where powders and granulates from few grams to many kg are weighted and mixed. The scale is very flexible in its constitution, as it is produced of standard equipment that is assembled after the customers demands. Thus, between 2 and 8 small containers may be combined in forming one scale. Depending on construction and size of containers, a scale for e.g. 2 ingredients may be extended to more ingredients when the need rises. No matter how many containers are part of the system, the principle is still the same: The scale consists of store containers with built-in dosing worms (in special cases another dosing equipment may be used), a weighing bin hanging on load cells, and a control unit, which allows optional recipe mixes and may print the recipes on labels through a connected printer.

A comparison between manual and automatic weighing and mixing Why should you weigh and mix automatically when you always have done it manually? Below, you see a comparison of doing it by yourself or leaving the work to an automatic unit. Manual First, you must find the actual recipe. If the recipe is matched to one certain amount, changes must be calculated manually or with an electronic calculator. Mostly the weighing takes place in several weighing bins, increasing the risk of. When the product is dosed by hand, the accuracy will be low, or it takes a long time to reach a good accuracy. The total consumption and the consumption of the single ingredients are difficult to control. If you are sensible to dust, the weighing and mixing of fine powders may cause irritations or allergic reactions. Automatic When a recipe is saved in the computer, it can always be found again fast and easy. With a weighing computer both amounts and mix relations may be changed very fast. The weighing takes place in one single weighing bin and the powders come from fixed containers. The material supply is controlled, so it stops exactly when the correct weight in the weighing bin is reached. Through the weighing computer you will always know how much of the single components there have been used. In TEKFA s scale for small ingredients there are no dust problems.

The scale for small ingredients is manufactured in many variations Depending on demands and version a scale may be equipped with up to 8 store containers. However, the weighing still takes place in one weighing bin. The dosing into the weighing bin is done by means of dosing worms, but for components where dosing worms do not suit, other dosing equipment can be used, for example belt feeders or vibration feeders. Scale for 8 components seen from above. All components are dosed to the same weighing bin in the middle of the system. As the single store containers may be built in as modules, they can also be removed one by one or leaved out from the beginning. In that way you have a very flexible system that can be adjusted to special or even difficult room sizes. Scale with 6 store containers in 3 different sizes: 200 litres, 100 litres and 50 litres.

How the scale works Each store container has a fluidising plate and an dosing worm. The fluidising plate helps if you have products that tend to bridge over the dosing worm and therefore are difficult to dose. Depending on the product characteristics the dosing worms may be chosen bigger or smaller, and the for few products where a dosing worm does not suit, another mechanism may be used. From the store containers powder is dosed to the weighing bin. The weighing bin rests on 3 load cells that are connected to a junction box outside the unit. Through the junction box the signal goes from the load cells to a weighing computer. By means of two pneumatic controlled closing flaps (here in open position) the weighing bin can be opened or closed in its bottom. When all ingredients are weighed the weighing bin opens and the product falls to a mixer or directly to another production process. The load cells are supplied with vibration dampers that reduce the influence of disturbances from outside.

Example In the example above you see a scale with two powder containers. To this scale belongs also optional of coarse the possibility the manual dosing of very small ingredients of salt etc. directly into the weighing bin. When the demanded recipe has been found in the weighing computer the process starts. First the powder from the right container is dosed (it could be from the left one as well) until the weight is reached. In order to take into account the caster between dosing worm and weighing bin, the dosing worm stops just before the weight is reached. This has been adjusted before in a dosing test of that particular powder, because different powders have different physical properties. In addition, a frequency changer may cause the dosing worm to rotate more slowly during the last part of the dosing. Powder that bridges over the dosing worm is fluidised with a device for compressed air in the container wall (see previous page). Then the other dosing worm starts automatically after the same principle and like that the process will continue (if there are more than the two shown containers and components) until all the wished ingredients have been dosed and weighed. If you have more containers than you need for the actual recipe, you are free to omit dosing from one or more containers. At last, a pneumatic controlled piston effects that the weighing bin is emptied typical into a mixer. The whole process is controlled by a weighing computer. Please, read the description on one of the following pages.

Cleaning and maintenance The scale can be dismounted very easy and without any tools. This holds for the smallest as well as the biggest versions. Those parts of stainless steel that comes directly in touch with your product, can be vacuum cleaned or you can dry them with a cloth or wash them. However, after washing you should take care that the parts are totally dry before you put them together. Moisture may cause your product to increase its weight and impede the dosing. A store container can easily and without any tool be removed from the scale and dismounted. Thus, it only takes about 5 minutes for one person to dismount the container on the photo. In that way, the unit may be cleaned both very easy and very thoroughly at the same time. The assemblage is just as easy as the dismount. In order to get access to the motor the motor cover may also be easily removed. The weighing bin may also be removed from the unit. First, you removed the air connection (the two blue tubes) and after that the 3 pins that hold the load cells. If your scale has more store container it could be necessary that, depending on the construction, that one or more store containers must be removed first. But as you saw before, this is very fast and easy.

The weighing computer: Mikrotek 55 Mikrotek 55 is a modern industrial computer with lots of applications. Among these are belt-weighers dosing worm scales summation scales loss-in-weight scales portion scales control scales batch control Mikrotek 55 is supplied with the TekfaVision-program, which is special designed for every single task, so in principle you may control as many functions at once as you wish. Ideal for batch control Especially within batch control, where more built-in functions must work together, Mikrotek 55 is legitimate. By means of the built-in program Mikrotek 55 controls the addition of the single components according to weight, mixing of the components, regulation of motor for dosing worms and belt weighers, regulation of valves etc. User-friendly operation The operation takes place through a 5.7 touch-screen, which is supplied with user-friendly symbols. Moreover, the TekfaVision program gives you a good graphic view. In addition, Mikrotek 55 may be connected to an extern operation such as keyboard or mouse, and it is possible to connect a printer in order to print weighing reports etc. Mikrotek 55 is made in a sturdy, stainless construction, which is sealed with gaskets of foaming polyurethane. This secures an unproblematic mechanical sealing. Application Mikrotek 55 applies to different lines as bakeries chemical industry pharmaceutical industry food industry feedstuff industry building industry
