7 NEMA Standard Voltages For 3 Phase 60 Hertz Motors Established in 1969 Frequently inquiries or orders are received for pump and motor with a motor voltage that is "non-standard" which can result in additional cost and longer shipping schedules when compared to the present "standard" motor voltages. The information below will assist you in identifying the "standard" motor voltages and data that may assist you in contacting your customer when a "non-standard" voltage is specifi ed - usually they will change to standard voltage. Distribution Systems - Present network distribution systems are designed to yield NOMINAL voltages of 208, 2, 480 and 600 volts on 3 phase 60 hertz systems. Typical voltage drop, from the power source to motor terminal, is approximately 4% which results in the new motor voltage rating shown below. 9 Laboratory Performance Test Procedure For Industrial Type Pumps Crane Pumps & Systems test facilities and equipment are capable of conducting pump performance test normally required by architects and engineers specifi cations. When test is required, the test procedure will be conducted according to the Standards of the Hydraulic Institute for Centrifugal Pumps. Driving units used to perform the test will be a calibrated electric motor, dynamometer or the customer's electric motor. Test normally required are of the following types and include the various steps listed. A - Laboratory Performance Test - Non-Witnessed 1. Pump will be mounted with a suitable driver and operated at the rated capacity and pumping head for not less than 1 minutes to verify satisfactory mechanical operation of the unit. 2. Performance test will consist of recording not less than fi ve rating points, of which the following are mandatory: a.) A point will be recorded at the maximum horsepower required by the pump. In the event that the maximum horsepower required during the test is not obtained before maximum capacity, a point at maximum capacity will be recorded. If maximum horsepower required is observed before maximum capacity, an additional point will be recorded at maximum capacity. b.) A point will be recorded at the operating conditions for which the pump is sold. c.) A point is recorded at pump shut-off (no-fl ow) condition. d.) Additional operating points will then be recorded; so spaced that an accurate representation of the pump performance can be plotted and performance curve drawn showing range of capacity, head, brake horsepower, effi ciency and speed. A Certifi ed Performance Curve will be submitted to the customer. B - Laboratory Performance Test - Witnessed The test procedure is identical to the Laboratory Performance Test described above, except that the test is witnessed by the purchaser or his representative. C - Laboratory Hydrostatic Test Consists of testing pressure castings as follows: Iron: Castings with 12 lb. fl ange psi Castings with 20 lb. fl ange - 37 psi C - Laboratory Hydrostatic Test - Continued Ductile Iron, Bronze, Carbon steel, Alloy Steel: Castings with 10 lb. fl anges - 22 psi Castings with 300 lb. fl anges. - psi Test data will be submitted to the purchaser. When required, test may be witnessed and will be of one half hour duration. The tests described above will be performed on Centrifugal Pumps, Vertical Sump Pumps, wet and Dry Pit Sewage Pumps, Vertical Turbine Pumps and Submersible Pumps in clean water with performance curve corrected for specifi c gravity and viscosity of the liquid to be pumped. Rotary Pumps will be tested in light oil verify satisfactory mechanical operation of the unit against a selected head pressure. Statement regarding test can be furnished to the purchaser when required. D - Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) Test Centrifugal type pumps only - Fig. 3060, 3180, 0, 4100, 4200 and 060 Series Laboratory Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) test will be conducted as follows: 1.) Design Capacity Only - suffi cient test points will be recorded to determine the operating NPSH required and will be plotted on the performance curve as total head vs. NPSH required at the design capacity. 2.) Complete Curve - a series of test points at different operating capacities, from maximum capacity to a minimum of 2% of maximum capacity (not less than four complete test), will be performed and plotted on performance curve as total head vs. NPSH required. NPSH test may be performed in conjunction with Laboratory Performance Test described above. For NPSH tests involving Sump Pumps, Sewage Pumps, Turbine Pumps, or Submersible Pumps, refer to Application Department. Refer to Pump Price Pages for Appropriate charges for type of test(s) involved. 9 /07
