1 11.0 CITY OF WORCESTER INITIATIVES As requested by the city of Worcester, the CMRPC transportation staff assisted city officials with event planning for a Worcester Rail Summit. The Summit was ordered through a resolution of the Worcester City Council. CMRPC staff brokered various speakers and also, at the city s request, provided visualization materials that included maps of the greater region s railroad network and the MBTA Commuter Rail system. Miscellaneous materials concerning the Worcester Rail Summit are included as part of the Freight Planning Progress Report document. Further, the city of Worcester s office of Economic Development initiated a project to study the potential beautification of a number of bridge structures around the Union Station Intermodal Transportation Center.
