2 Welcome to the Port of Gothenburg and Railport Scandinavia Railport Scandinavia is a highly efficient railway network that connects inland terminals throughout Sweden and Norway with the Port of Gothenburg. Regardless of whether your goods arrive at the Port of Gothenburg with container train, trailer train or conventional train, we can assure you that it reaches its final destination quickly and securely, wherever that may be in the world. Railport system RAILPORT INTERMODAL Over the past 15 years we have built up an effective system of daily container and trailer shuttles between the port and inland terminals throughout Sweden and Norway. The rail shuttles are a sustainable, cost-efficient, long-term solution that ensures that large volumes of freight can reach end-customers rapidly and efficiently. RAILPORT TERMINAL Around 20 inland terminals are connected to the Port of Gothenburg. The terminals offer you a wide range of services, for example customs, storage and empty depot, all adapted to the customers need. RAILPORT CONVENTIONAL If you choose conventional freight wagons we can offer transloading and stuffing directly in the port area. In addition we also have, customised rail solutions for sawn timber, paper, steel and other products. 3 RAILPORT INTERMODAL Railport Intermodal is a rail shuttle system linking the logistics of sea and land efficiently and environmentally friendly. It is an open train system with both container and trailer trains. The rail shuttles runs straight into the port and the freight can be rapidly loaded on board vessels for export to various world destinations or in reverse, from the vessel onto the rail wagon, which are then taken directly to its inland terminals. More than 60 per cent of the containers handled in the port is transported by rail. 0% REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT Moving goods from lorries to electrified trains has significant environmental benefits. Each year, the railport intermodal system shuttles save 53,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. That would equal he emissions from 23,000 passenger cars during one year. The quality of the operations in the terminals is measured and evaluated with a five-point scale rating system. The rating is based on four parameters: conditions and geographical location, range of services, safety and security and physical layout. Railport Conventional allows customers to transport large shipments to the port efficiently and environmentally friendly. The goods is transported to the port using conventional freight trains and then reloaded into containers or onto trailers before being shipped to export markets all over the world. This allows shippers to transport large volumes on the railway. 7 THE NEW GOTHENBURG INTERMODAL TERMINAL An intermodal terminal is built in the port area. The terminal became operational in December The new intermodal terminal is located next to the port s ro-ro and container terminals. From the terminals, trailers and containers are transported to and from a variety of destinations all over Europe and the world. The terminal has the capacity of serving six trains simultaneously. Both trailers and containers can be handled at the intermodal terminal although the focus is on trailers. 8 LOGISTICS and WAREHOUSING The Port of Gothenburg offers a wide range of warehousing and logistics services. You can rest assured that your goods are prepared optimally prior to being shipped. Services include container stripping and stuffing and crossdocking. You can choose from several warehouses for cargo via the Port of Gothenburg. In addition to the current facilities another 1 million square metres of logistics land are under construction. Gothenburg has been named the best logistics location in Sweden for 18 years in succession according to the magazine Intelligent Logistik.
