5 IPI helps Iowa s offenders get and keep a job once they get out. Offenders in IPI work training programs gain the Education, Soft Skills & Hard Skills needed to be successful citizens upon release. Iowa Prison Industries Benefits To Iowa Citizens and Taxpayers: IPI is 100% self-funding, with no appropriated funds from the State. IPI provided over 1,000,000 hours of offender training in FY2018. Reduced recidivism = fewer victims on reentry & lower prison population. IPI is an Iowa company purchases boost the State s economy. 13 Sign Retroreflectivity Requirements From the Federal Highway Association Federal Guidelines The State of Iowa follows the guidelines set forth by the Federal Highway Association and the MUTCD Visit & mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov for full guidelines IPI can assist you with guidelines, but ultimately it is the agency s responsibility to ensure compliance 13

15 MUTCD Guidelines Which Should You Choose? While EGP may meet some minimums initially, sign life will be short Iowa DOT standard is DG3 Fluorescent Yellow on all warning signs & HIP for all other signs At the end of its 12-year warranty period, DG3 is still more visible than a brand new HIP sign 15

17 Program Overview Assist in replacement of damaged, worn out, obsolete or substandard signs and posts Select warning, regulatory, and school area signs and posts eligible for reimbursement Maximum of $5,000 per year per city, $10,000 per year per county Managed by Process Inspect signs (follow Sign Inspection Guidelines) Complete & submit grant application and City/County Resolution Upon approval, order signs Install signs Submit Reimbursement Certification and invoice to the DOT Receive reimbursement 17
