2 Nuclear energy meets global energy challenges: Reduction of CO2 Emissions Low CO2 power generation Reduce local air pollution Global Priorities of Energy Policy COP21 requirements Environment Cost Optimization of Energy Supply Substantially increased energy efficiency Increase competitiveness by using least-cost approaches for supply expansion Sustainability Security of Supply Install new capacities and diversify the energy mix Baseload electricity needs Reduce import dependency Economics Electricity Prices Security of Supply Baseload Electricity 2
3 Nuclear power is a green alternative COP21 calls for urgent actions to stop the climate change by lowering CO2 emissions and transition to non-carbon economies COP21 agreement was adopted by 196 countries. According to the Agreement, the states are obliged to adopt measures to restrict the increase of the world temperature to less than 2 Cº By 2030 all Russian design NPPs around the world will help to avoid 2,4 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions per year Source: WNA 3

6 Economics Sources: eia.gov, IEA, OECD Cost predictability: the share of raw material cost in the fossil fuel generation is about 60%, which implies direct dependability on fossil fuel price fluctuations, while uranium cost share in nuclear generation is about 4-5% and price fluctuations have no impact on the final cost of generation. 6
7 Germany experience Solar and wind energy have not compensated the decommissioned nuclear capacities, moreover - in 2016 the time of power generation by wind and solar plants reduced sharply. 10 Nuclear energy development. Scenario 3 Evolution of the power generation mix in the 450 Scenario (IEA, 2016) The nuclear capacity must to be increased significantly to meet the climate objectives, e.g. to ~830 GW in 2040 in the IEA 450 Scenario 10
